Aristis
A very underwhelming WE, though thanks to relatively warm weather and the storm Sabine it was deflated. Hopefully we'll see some great holds next WE! #1 Dolittle 160k #2 BOP 140k (155k i.P.) #3 BB3 135k Edited February 10, 2020 by Aristis 5

Birds of Prey is not an outright flop but very disappointing; it may end with a smaller total than Suicide Squad's OW … domestic comedy Enkel für Anfänger also came in lower than I hoped. Next weekend: Business will be much better with domestic comedy Nightlife taking the top spot; maybe it can open in the 300-400k range. Also opening: Bombshell and Sonic; the latter one is a dark horse for me; sometimes those game related movies do really well and others bellyflop; I have virtually no idea where this will go. 6
IndustriousAngel
opening show for "Nightlife" ... not much business (busiest movie this evening is Parasite, nice!) but its strong day will of course be Valentine's so let's wait and see Edited February 12, 2020 by IndustriousAngel
IndustriousAngel
... and Sonic seems to do surprisingly good, let's see how high it can go! (Meanwhile, Parasite is still the only real seller among evening movies)

Overall nicely spread-out business; it's not every weekend where you need 20k admissions to enter the charts. But the story of the weekend is certainly Parasite's success; that's a massive Awards push and WOM is still good so it won't drop off the charts anytime soon! Next weekend: It's a doggie weekend, with The Call of the Wild and a domestic Lassie adaption opening against each other … Disney and Warner must have had something like a theme weekend in mind or else they were out of theirs … while Germany is a very dog-friendly country, I suspect Sonic will stay on top. Also opening: Fantasy Island and Brahms: The Boy II (might see some success with the horror market virtually empty). With few holidays and the dog openers, other family releases will probably experience steep drops. IndustriousAngel
none of the openers makes any splash (I expected a bit more from the horror fare); the only real story atm is Parasite which might go up a bit from last weekend.
