BO Germany/Austria: Dune first 2024 blockbuster (3mil admissions)

Acc Insidekino forum, where someone does a count-comparison to A IW for two big city cinemas here in Germany, the preview count for Endgame nears the triple amount (A IW = 1026 vs A EG = 2923).

One is the same cinema I picked recently to count that too , so I guess I wont do that again, maybe I pick another one, not sure for now.

 

It already surpassed in those two example cinemas the OD of A IW as well a bit (4245 vs 4392), but based on the weather .... here it can have a big impact in a bad way see weather looks to be very nice.

 

What might skew the numbers a bit:

Maybe they got some more than their usual share, as a big cinema chain didn't open the pre-sale at the same time bcs still conferring with Disney over conditions. They (= the late ones) opened it only recently.

Pro argument: they did the same last year with A IW, not sure if they opened the pre-sale last year also that late in comparison to other cinemas

(The cinema has 11 halls) that's like nothing and based on those numbers I'd say they will add some after Easter and when the movies open maybe one or two more for a total of 8-10 showings.

 

EDIT:

I don't have information about other movies as most movies are dead before the opening and I mean really dead.

TFA and TLJ are two movies that I wish I would have info, I am really interested if Endgame will get as many shows like those.

Right now I doubt it.

One the positive side:

I could find some information for presales of TLJ, but those were for christmas.

 

Around noon on the 22nd:

Which would paint a rather positive picture of Endgame, yeah this is after the second weekend for TLJ and all that and that was just 750k, but those weekdays were pretty strong.

I didn't write down how many shows it got, but I think something around 12-16 (and the 27 was a weekday and no public holiday), which means that probably at least 4000 seats were free.

I don't know how full the shows were but for the main showing on the 27th (20:15, there were around 400 of 578 sold, that's a lot! more than normal)

Normally movies max out at 10 shows (and that's Opening day with previews)

 

Those 3/4 showings are what movies normally get (like Shazam etc.).

After passion actually has 5 showing on a weekday (okay, it's Tuesday and Easter week) but that's quite a lot.

A user named Maik1992 at the Insidekino forum did an immense Avengers Endgame pre-sale count, with updates in between, for Previews (= 23 April), Wednesday, Thursday, Fraiday, Saturday, and Sunday, for each room/screen in 2 big cinemas.

It includes details like 2D, 3D and ATMOS 3D, original version and dubbed

 

As a big chain (= not them) didn't start presales before a few days back there is a possibility audience chose other cinemas over the big chain = might skew the results to a degree.

Not 100% sure, but I understood it as final presales for those cinema-date combinations = ~ as final presales ~ what they counted after OW's Sunday.

definitely a massive opening day and hopefully OW coming ... finally some good news after the many many sad months! With the 3hr running time I'm not yet positive about totals but the OW in Germany should exceed 1,5mil admissions (in Austria, around 200k might be possible including Wed & Thu)

OD for AIW was 225k ($3,2M). How much can this one do? 300k seem like the floor. SW7 had around 600k OD and was much stronger in Presales, ceilling is 450k?

 

I'll say maybe 375k OD, 65% up from AIW (and that is very optimistic for me )

Looked through a pretty bunch of theatres yesterday after posting the final udapte for previews and it looks gigantic, like the Imax screens in Germany pretty much are fully sold out and in the biggest cinemas (Like cinicitta Nürnberg, Mätheser München, Cinemaxx Essen (started presales really late), Cinestar Metropolis Frankfurt it's selling really well (like main showings often are about 60-80% sold), also some of those have a lot of English shows (I know that some tend to have more English shows but this looks like an even bigger share) also I didn't even know that the Sony Center in Berlin only shows it in English.

Locally it's not selling that well though I think that has something to do with the theatres being a little big for the city (probably wrong about it, but like Bremen has pop.  of 550k and all three are quite big (11, 10, 11 screens, while compared to Frankfurt for example which has the Metropolis (12 screens), Mainzer Landstraße (8 screens), Cineplex (8 Screens and those are small screens) (at least that are the cinemas that apparently are showing the movie in Frankfurt) while having a pop. 740k and both cities have a few small cinemas but those mainly shows arthouse films and dramas and not superheroes and the fact that I think Bremen is slightly lazy when it comes to Superhero movies.

 

At least here (as far as I remeber) it's missing quite something compared to SW7, also while the numbers of showing has increased there is still a diffrence.
