Long history. To summarize, military dictatorship until the mid 80's tossing the country's economy to the garbage bin, on the early 90's Collor became president and completely dissolved all of the companies, all of the fundings and all of the laws that supported the industry, what pretty much bankrupted the whole brazilian's movie market at the time.

According to deadline, Barbie added $2.2M on thursday (R$9.95M), a 54% drop from the opening day, for a total of $27.3M so far. I am hearing that it might be already the top movie from 2023, if it is total should be R$136M+, but I can't confirm that yet.

How much chance for Barbie break all time record here?

It probably won't beat for the top spot, dailies are still bellow Endgame, but after this weekend the gap between Barbie and NWH will become much smaller.

R$61.4M was made as a total this weekend and 2.86 tickets were sold.

Unlike the trend of the last week, Barbie came lower from estimates, dropping 56.6%, but still managed a very solid weekend, it have passed Joker as the highest grossing Warner movie of all time, it is now the 8th best selling movie of all time and will soon become the 6th movie to cross the R$200M mark.

Oppenheimer was the real surprise, increasing the number of screenings and doing pretty much the same as the opening weekend and WoM is managing to be even stronger than Barbie.

Elemental have passed the total of Spiderverse, the 3 new releases bombed, Mario almost came back to the top 10.

Next weekend releases The Meg 2, The State, Joy Ride, The First Slam Dunk and Destinos Opostos.

Odd, I haven't seen any marketing in here for Meg 2 at all so far

Yeah me neither, I saw a trailer before Barbie and that's it. But it was funny tho, I've heard people in my screening complaining because they thought it was a dinosaur movie but then the shark showed up lol
