Is 30M+ possible in Brazil?

$30m would require R$99m so I guess it's perfectly possible given how it outperformed our expectations. That would make it the first Disney / Pixar movie to reach $30m.

Opening in 18 more markets, Ice Age: Collision Course rolled to an estimated $32.2m from its 25 markets for an early $57.7m.

Brazil led the way with a $4.5m debut for the biggest opening ever for the Ice Age franchise in the market

Still, it's a crazy situation we have here : Ice Age 5, from one of the biggest franchises in Brazil, has been beaten by Finding Dory during its second weekend!! And it's not because Ice Age 5 underperformed because it did well, that just means Dory was stronger :o

Something interesting about Dory :

BIGGEST ANIMATED MOVIES IN LOCAL CURRENCY (BRAZILIAN REAIS -> R$) (2000-2015)

Minions : R$119m

Ice Age 4 : R$94.7m

Ice Age 3 : R$81.1m

Despicable Me 2 : R$80.5m

Shrek 4 : R$70.5m

Rio : R$68.8m

Rio 2 : R$64.7m

Madagascar 3 : R$58.9m

Finding Dory : R$56.4m

How To Train Your Dragon 2 : R$56.1m

The Smurfs : R$52.1m

The Good Dinosaur : $48.3m

Spongebob : R$48.1m

Frozen : R$47.5m

Inside Out : R$45.6m

Ice Age 2 : R$42.8m

Wreck-It Ralph : R$42.7m

Toy Story 3 : R$42m

Tangled : $39.8m

Alvin & The Chipmunks 3 : R$39.8m

Zootopia : R$38.6m

Monsters University : R$37.3m

Brave : R$37.2m

Shrek 3 : R$35.7m

The Croods : R$33.6m

Cars 2 : R$33.5m

The Smurfs 2 : R$32.5m

Kung Fu Panda 2 : R$31.3m

Hotel Transylvania : R$31.1m

Shrek 2 : R$29m

If my estimates are accurate  Dory is the 9th biggest animated movie in Brazil, and the first one from Disney / Pixar in the top 10.

The top 3 is a lock, meaning that Ice Age 3 will go down, Ice Age 4 is reachable. Very impressive, I'm speechless.

It will pass Shrek 4 by Sunday.

It's says that 4.5M is the biggest opening in the franchise but BOM has IA4 with 6.1M OW

No, what they mean is that it is the biggest OW in local currency. In USD it's obviously lower given how negatively the ER evolved since 2012.

This is a prediction I made a few weeks ago :

I expected Dory to be end around 65-70m in local currency and 18-22m in USD.

I'm glad to see it was too pessimistic, and believe me I thought it was too optimistic ^^

In lc It will probably end beyond 90m, even beyond 100m, in USD that would lead us toward 27m-33m.

All of that is far beyond my expectations.

Well done Brazil. :D

I think it will beat Minions.

While it's possible I want to be cautious because 119m is a huge number to reach, it's more likely to end a bit lower but I hope it can beat Minions that would be fantastic! :o

findingnemo-finding-dory-movie-lead.jpg?

Finding Dory got 1,136,000 admissions on week 2 after 1,495,000 during its OW. Total admissions : 3,920,000

It's an incredible hold after such a strong OW. :o

Finding Nemo got 4.8m admissions in 2003, Dory will crush it very easily.
