alisson23
I'm very optimistic about Valerian here and I say $2.5m OW I think Malasartes will flop here. This is sad because it is a very bold movie. I'm going to watch it prob next week. Do you want, @Fullbuster?

I hope you're right about Valerian because I'd like it to succeed, however I'm not very optimistic given it's a sci-fi movie, hope I'm wrong. As for Malasartes it's unlikely to be released here in France so I'll probably won't watch it....

It's ok, at least it's not likely to be the disaster we could expect. Still a failure for a movie with such a budget though.
Fullbuster
As for Spidey the $29.9m number from last weekend was obviously wrong, BOM now says SMH reached $31m. This weekend Spider-Man will reach R$100m (R$99.2m last weekend), making it the first movie of this franchise to reach it, an impressive performance that's for sure. Will Thor 3 reach that threshold as well? That's possible but it's not locked, we'll see. Justice League will reach it easily though, if it can pass The Avengers 2 that will be memorable. The Avengers 3 will probably pass it next year if it's the case but still...
Fullbuster
Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, Transformers....These 3 franchises clearly declined in USD. In local currency POTC mostly stagnated, Cars 3 beats Cars 2 and TF5 clearly below TF4. On the other hand Beauty and the Beast shows there are opportunities for Disney live-action movies while Marvel/DC are on an equal footing in this market (making it all the more interesting to follow). Fullbuster
I don't know what happened but the Brazilian Real brutally lost value these last 3 days, from $1 = R$3.12 to R$3.19 Every time I'm hopeful about the exchange rate I end up being disappointed, it's depressing to follow this...Being under R$3 would be so good for movies in USD, I really hope it can happen before the release of Thor 3 and Justice League but I'm increasingly pessimistic about that
