AIW has the OD record I think.

Civil War, IW beat it by 30%

:ohmygod:

If not beating it outright the IW is definitely at least challenging TFA and F7 for how many record breaking OD and OW there will be

Well, it's time for the reveal...

$171.8M MXN

$9.19M USD

Highest Opening Day of All-Time

Highest Single Day of All-Time

+38% from Civil War, the previous record.

If follows Civil War then:

Fri: $171.8M

Sat: $155.19M

Sun: $156.57M

OW: $483.56M MXN/$25.87M USD

That would be enough to put it +37% from previous record (Civil War) and also would put it as 26th biggest title of all-time.

Let's not make any illusion right now and stay on ground with $420M+ Matinees today were stronger than yesterday, although yestarday had the midnight boost so no, neither Sat or Sun are increasing. Finally, Mon is day off for schools and Tue is a holiday, PS for later are huge so that may hit weekend's numbers in somehow. Still, anything can happen, stay tunned.

Afternoon business saw a small decrease, bad weather on center and south of country, anyway keeps strong. Theatres adding shows for 01-02 AM.

Not sure yet about that CW multi but more confident on $450+ rather than $420M+

PS for tomorrow bodes well.

I forgot to say: repeat viewings will be more popular for this than for CW, specially for 4D and IMAX. $1B is doable

more likely around 450m if sun similar to Sat, sat looking 140mish, WE may get around 8m admits

Quick recap

  • Destroys Civil War record by 33%
  • Tomorrow joins Top 25 all-time
  • Tuesday finishes with $550M+, at Top 20 all-time and as #1 of 2018
  • $900M+ ($47M+USD) and #2 all time at the end. I'm thinking $950M-$970M ($50M-$51M USD)
  • $1B are reachable, wom is pretty good. At social media is a phenomenon a la Coco
  • Coco looks pretty safe to me in $, as for admissions is even safer, that record is an unique beast

Looks Disney is happy :) From Deadline:

Quote

Disney Worldwide Distribution chief Dave Hollis tell Deadline. “Honestly, this is a result that goes unbelievably beyond what anyone would have expected. But it’s also a reflection of what 10 years of really methodical work and a great campaign, and an unbelievably strong movie and every single person being in the movie and what that means for driving people into cinemas,” he adds.

It was a perfect storm of the critically- and fan-praised picture playing well everywhere. In places where Marvel typically excels like Latin America, Infinity War “just exploded,” says Hollis who notes Mexico’s $25.1M “is take your breath away.
