Not necessarily, the summer tends to cause softer weekday jumps for animation.

Yeah I know that but 25% is still pretty small. The original minions in 2015 on its second Saturday in the middle of July went up by 39%. I'm just saying it seems like a small increase.

Funny enough, jaws and ET are my number one and number two ranked movies of all time. I've seen Jaws literally 1500 times or more, ET probably only 20 LOL and I am definitely going to find an IMAX theater or whatever screens they are playing on for that weekend and go sit my ass down with a giant tub of popcorn and enjoy my two favorite movies.

I may get kicked out of BOT.  I was born in 1970 and I have never seen ET.  We didn't go to a lot of movies growing up and by the time it got to TV I was more into watching sci-fi and action movies than watching that type of movie.  I probably should watch it now.  In fact, I believe it's currently on my DVR.  However, since I didn't see it when I was younger, I'm not sure I would appreciate what it is.

You might not fully appreciate it in comparison to what it did to people in 1982. However, great movies are great movies and I think you could still be very emotionally invested in it. I'd really like to read your opinion of it if you do watch it.

New weekend thread, new chance to advertise the top 100 list

i love that when you quote this image is my Letterboxd with my favorite films shows up.

like, yes, yes, make sure to put:

Alien

Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Cabaret

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Mildred Pierce

The Searchers

Singin’ In The Rain

Sunset Blvd

The Birdcage

The Philadelphia Story

On your lists folks!!  Good movies!!

We are actually on our way to Cabaret right now. We’re going to do a screening of it before we go see the Backstreet Boys tonight. (Thank Turning Red for that!! This is all cause of that soundtrack!!)

Then I immediately turn around and get on a plane for SDCC. I get to see my friend I haven’t seen in three years. I want to cry.

And after having one of the longest four weeks in my recent history, I am so excited to say that I am officially on vacation. I actually would really love to just like leave my phone, but I know that’s not actually feasibly possible.  I thought I could’ve gotten away without talking my computer, but again, what a pipe dream

I also will post the Comic Con thread on Tuesday.

All good. Different strokes different folks.

I think Citizen Kane is garbage. Hot fucking garbage

Most Potters are average

The Exorcist that's about as scary as an episode of Sesame Street.

Civil War is kinda boring except for the airport battle.

We all like what we like.

Only intresting thing about CK is ROSEBUD.

Affirmative.

Excorcist has some best scary scenes like spider walk pussy stabbing.

Overrated marvel movie basically Avengers sequel.

Best thing in jaws is 🦈 scenes.

The Exorcist doesn’t scare you? Lucky.

I can’t watch anything to do with the devil. That Southern Baptist upbringing runs deep.

It also happens to be that I don't really like early Spielberg movies barring E.T.

Love his later films like Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me if you Can, Bridge of Spies, Terminal, etc.

Well I was actually raised Catholic (the Religion in the movie) and honestly it was more the anticipation of how scary the movie would be did me worse.

It helps I don't think that stuff is real at all. 🤷‍♂️

I actually hate the idea of being scared by a movie... but thinking about it I haven't actually been scared by a movie since I was a very small child.

I mean even movies that I found somewhat scary as a child I actually loved too. Like secret of NIMH.

He's rumored to be Directing Fantastic 4.
