Flat from Thursday.

Not sure how a R-rated drama would jump over weekend in Italy but Oppenheimer is coming close for a $10m OW! If the course stay, Oppenheimer is beating Barbie's OW here. In fact, a $9.5m-$10m OW would not be far off from ATOW's opening too.

Oppenheimer 3 days (Wed-Thu-Fri) : €5.131.350 / 660.541 adm
Barbie 3 days (Thu-Fri-Sat): €5.800.000 / 752.441 adm

The most impressive thing is that Oppenheimer is close to Barbie without Saturday (richest day of the week in Italy)

I was finally able to watch the movie after waiting one month for the release, and I really liked it (despite the first hour being maybe a bit too slow)

I think it will surpass the 20M but I also don't know how the competition will do (Ninja Turtles, Gran Turismo etc)

Top 5 IMAX worldwide gross.

1. Avatar (2009): $270m (including re-release) ; $243m without re-release

2. Avatar TWOW (2022): $256m

3. TFA (2015): $208m

4. AEG(2019): $180m

5. Oppenheimer(2023): $154.5m

6. AIW (2018): $143m

With China still on the way, Oppy will overtake EG or even challenge $200m mark.

The amount of IMAX screens in China is insane. Fourth place is for sure and third place has a chance.

Not convinced about its China prospects. Should have a decent opening but still expect it to collapse similar to South Korea.

Regardless though, the fact that the movies above it on the list are all 2 billion monsters show just how impactful IMAX was for Oppie. Noland is their brand ambassador, but you also have to hand it to Uni for successfully pushing it as a true IMAX event. It wasn't the big, bold marketing of Barbie, but they did a great job. I remember when the ticking clock standees and trailers came out some people were unimpressed, but they look to have done a great job.

The UK/Ireland this week pushed Oppenheimer past the lifetimes of The Dark Knight, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther. The total to date of $67.5M is in line with Dunkirk and The Dark Knight Rises at the same point.

Germany dropped just 15% this weekend to reach $42.7M. Already Nolan’s biggest film ever in the market, Oppenheimer has now also surpassed the lifetimes of Fast 7 and Top Gun: Maverick.

In France, Oppenheimer dipped just 21% to reach a cume of $37.2M. During the week, it topped the lifetimes of Fast 7 and Spectre, as well as becoming the highest-grossing Nolan film of all time.

Netherlands had another excellent hold, remaining flat from last weekend, and surpassing the total lifetimes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Top Gun: Maverick. Cume there is $17.7M.

Greece’s launch was also a record-breaker with the biggest opening day of the year, as well as the biggest opening day and opening weekend ever for a Nolan film. The latter impressive given The Dark KnightThe Dark Knight Rises and Inception were all released before the Greek economic crisis, when annual cinema admissions were double what they are now. Despite a heat wave, and wildfires in the suburbs of Athens, people flocked to see Oppenheimer, with 72 of the 104 locations being open-air cinemas.
