Animation here looks better than the Captain Underpants movie

Apparently the production designer was the same one for The Last Wish. Also different animation studio in Jellyfish Pictures.

Wait none of these Pilkey adapations are in-house productions?

Nope. Mikros animated the Captain Underpants movie and DWA doesn't do fully in-house after Wild Robot (Shrek 5 may seem to be an exception).

Multiple children seemed very excited by the trailer when I was watching the Wild Robot. One kid in particular kept saying "I have that book" and "I love Dogman" and then said it again about 5 more times. The girl behind me seemed mildly annoyed that her mom asked if she wanted to see it because "it's literally Dog Man". I don't know if that means she wants to go or not but she knows what it is. Of all the trailers that showed it was the only one to get any sort of reaction from the audience.

The trailer is still funny this is my second time watching it, first was with Transformers. Probably not up my alley but I'll go with my niece and sister if they're going.

Looks terrible. The concept itself is ridiculous for anyone not a kid.

This kind of crap is why Dreamworks has imploded.

Imploded in which way?
Financially, I am expecting a solid hit with Dogman. Kids LOVE the books. Also, Puss in Boots 2, Kung Fu Panda 4 and The Wild Robot have been quite succesful.

Quality wise, Dreamworks has never been known for praised movies aimed for kids and adults. Remember it's the studio that brought Captain Underpants, Shark Tale, Monsters vs Aliens, Megamind, Bee Movie, Turbo and Over the hedge!

I don't know why bc they've been at it for a while, but in a different way than Disney does. There's stuff that's clearly aimed 90% at little kids like Dog Man and Captain Underpants (which I enjoyed as an adult but I read the books in childhood) but there's movies that weave more complex adult themes like Robot and Last Wish and dare I say Megamind.
