Heh, Box Office Pro thought that Saturday Night Live and The Wild Robot would be battling for the #3 spot, and that Joker would be #2.

SNL was a crap shoot to how it would expand (though they were really high on it) but looking at daily numbers and patterns for Fri jumps those Wild Robot & Joker projections made little sense - particular Joker.

It's had summer weekdays its whole run but Wild Robot has managed to keep pace. TWR should get a boost from the holiday tomorrow and ought to be able to at least match Elemental's weekly hold as well. Nothing else coming out for awhile so I can see its weekly holds being similarly miniscule.

It opened $6m higher and is now $6m behind - that's not keeping pace.  That's falling $12m behind after o/we.

You think over the week it's going to match Elemental's $20m Mon-Sun?   If  WR did $10m next w/e dropping 27% it would need to make $10m M-Thur to match Elementals full week.  It did $6.1m M-Thur this last week.

I guess if Joker wants to look on the bright side, it's that it won't be the biggest predecessor-sequel drop of the week it came out with White Bird looking to make less than 5% of Wonder (though that was expected and understandable considering the Lionsgate dump, the endless delays, and the fact it's barely even connected to the 2017 movie since none of its main talent returned). Small victories indeed

Match percentage, not total. Wild Robot has two extra weeks before anything approximating the kind of Barbenheimer/TMNT buzzsaw that Elemental ran into so catching up to it seems very doable imo.

I think Piece by Piece's opening is at least a little admirable considering "documentary puff piece but animated with LEGOs" is such a confounding sell. Out-opening a movie about the most popular sketch comedy show of all time is pretty wild.

Very curious how that pitch went. Was Pharrell just bored? Did Lego need a celebrity endorsement? The math ain’t mathing

Just around more or less than $1M away for DP&W to beat Barbie’s $636M DOM.

INSIDE OUT II on the other hand has just ended its run with 652.98M. Disney didn't even bother to push it a little bit further to beat JURASSIC WORLD's 653.41M.
