Guessing the jungle smurfs are a whole tribe of female smurfs since the film focuses on how Smurfette is the only female.

 Exactly what I thought.

Spoiler

A tribe of smurf amazon women...

WHAT? Oh no :( I really liked their new orientation, much more faithful to the original comic book, I was reading these stories as a kid and while the first movie was fun the second one was too much, this third movie was welcome..

At least the reviews say it's better than the Live Action/CGI hybrid movies.

Odds are when I babysitting over break, I stuck with this or Boss Baby, so I'm seeing one of those.

Perosnally I would choose the Smurfs, it's a better match, plus Smurfs is higher than Boss Baby on RT

is this movie coming under the radar or is it too late for this?  It seems this is the movie that the 2011 Smurfs should have been.  Here is a clue about the upcoming box office performance so far:

2017/03/24 - $39,013   506 $77   $99,528,233 94
2017/03/25 - $338,168 +767% 506 $668   $99,866,401 95
2017/03/26 - $20,291 -94% 506 $40   $99,886,692 96

Last weekend, Passengers added 416 locations and had single showing matinees.  However, for Saturday there was a sneak preview for Smurfs.  Being it was the same Distributor, this is the Smurfs: Lost Village number.  Approx 275K or more was grossed by Smurfs in maybe 416 locations for a single showing for one day.  I am not going to do the math for this and I am not an expert for sneak previews since they have been a thing of the past.

SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE

mkt003_fg-4k_v2_lm_v7_rgb.jpg?w=301&h=20
Sony Pictures Animation

Opening in 32 markets this frame, Smurfette and pals tallied up $15.1M on more than 6K screens. The diminutive blue folk have returned to their fully-animated roots after 2011 and 2013’s live-action mash-ups. Those two films legged out to $421M and $277M, respectively, at offshore turnstiles. Major plays included a mix of Germany, China, France, the UK and Brazil. Of those, only the UK has opened so far on Lost Village, generating $1.8M including previews.

Rollout will continue on the Sony Pictures Animation title during the Easter holiday period. It’s crowded, but the little Peyo characters have a giant brand internationally. China moves into the village on April 21.

This week’s openings also included Russia with $2.5M including previews and Spain at $2.1M.
