Let's see today's numbers first. Jolie's controversy is still running in low (so it should not be a problem) so it can leg longer but we make forecast well after OW numbers are reported on Monday.

What could be the potential for the Jujutsu Kaisen movie? I would never dream about a similar run to Demon Slayer, but considering the success of both the anime and Manga of JJK, 100M (dollars)+ could very well be reachable or?

First of all, JJK MOVIE 0 can easily passed $100M (not a big deal) When NLab conducted a survey on next ¥40B project in Japan, then 132K has voted JJK Movie 0. I am currently a bit optimistic, thinking about ¥20B finals but many still hopes that it can pass ¥30B. Today (00:00 JST) , the trailer was released and it has already accumulated 10M+ views including those in Chinese media (I have not checked BilliBilli yet). But, as you said, we can not compare it equally with Demon Slayer. (Sequel vs Prequel). Unlike, demon Slayer, many could skip the prequel.

 

But, there are some differences which are attracting crowds:

Although, it's a prequel, there are two important characters, public want to know. Yuta. Many like to know the story of Yuta's love.

 

Secondly, Getu, whose powers were not revealed in Season 1 (following the manga)

 

Third, Fans want to know about Gojo Sataru's White eye scarf. & Finally, How it begins?

 

Estimated Finals : ¥20B-¥25B

Advance Booking starts from November 16, which will give some more ideas in observance for finals (OW too)

 

JJK on its OW (Competition) :

1. Second Weekend for Matrix Resurrection &Boss Baby 2: Family Business. Unlike Boss baby 2, Matrix is a very stable/strong franchise, that has leg well (lowest film was ¥6.7B).

 

2. Third Weekend for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. First one made over ¥2B

 

3. OW for The King'smen. (Relatively weak)

 

Some Good News:

1. Spiderman No Way Home delayed to January 7. At least, better because it would have neutralize each other.

 

2. Ghostbusters Afterlife delayed to February.

The fact (rumour) that the film is Anti-Japanese is spreading. I doubt that it can not reach ¥1B ($8.8M) here. Boycott over Angelina Jolie will rise if controversy spread. I can not draw conclusions here because I have not watched but if the rumour appears true then I will too boycott because MCU can not be greater than my Patriotism torward my country, also I don't want to be a traitor.

Well they also changed Japanese character's nationality so i don't think it does well there

Below Shang Chi opening $3M (¥340M). First day seems to end at 75K.

Firstday seems to end at 84k. Mimorin number often = 70% nationwide number.

I didn't follow Japan Box Office since DS last year so I forgot the common % bump for Sat from Fri.

I remember that in Japan, Sat often gets big jump from Fri, and Sun will be likely flat from Sat or a soft drop from Sat. 

Eternals' s Friday is around 80k, so I think Sat + Sun should beat that 140k of Shangchi, no?

Shangchi OD 56k.... this is the nationwide number? 🤔 if so, then the number at mimorin might be around 40k 🤔. Today Eternals is 56k at mimorin so it is +40% from shangchi I think.
