JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

I doubt Rentrak made a typo, but the cinema chain rankings are coming in now and it appears to be behind Promethues making the estimates off a bit. So the weekend drop is probably bigger than the 43% estimate.Avengers only added about 700/800 million yen ($9/10 million) this week it seems. Using good drops for the next month, I'm only seeing 3.2-3.3 billion yen ($42 million) for it.

-, -, -, -, 10 :: Fairy Tail: Priestess of the Phoenix :: Shochiku :: 11 :: Week 2

-, 3, -, 5, :: Kobito Dukan 2 :: Asmik Ace :: 12 :: Week 1

Notes:

Toho and Shikoku report their Top 10.

Warner and Sunshine report their Top 5.

United report their Top 3.

The five chains operate 45% of all screens in the country.

The most diverse Cinema Chain Rankings in months. And I know 'Kobito Dukan 2' actually managed good showings at Warner and Shikoku, but I'm highly doubting it was released at many other major chains (not making the Top 10 at Toho for example). Thus, I'm putting it outside the Top 10. Hopefully it leaves soon all chains soon, though... very little freaks me out, but the pictures I've seen make The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure look normal. :alien:

Thanks, so TA had a 38.5% drop and total should be around 28M. Olive had 2.22B yen with exchange rate around 78.6, that comes out to 28.3M in dollars. Edited by druv10

17. $44 million :: 4.2 million :: The Sinking of Japan :: Toho :: 2006

*Note that for the USD Chart, there are some films that would make the chart despite not grossing ¥5 billion due to a favorable exchange rate.

Spectacular for both 'Umizaru 4' and 'Thermae Romae' so far. 'Umizaru 4' will easily make over ¥7 billion ($90 million) and likely end up between ¥7.5-8 billion ($95-101 million). There's a chance it becomes only the second live-action film to reach $100 million in Japan. 'Thermae Romae' is about finished, but could still hit ¥6 billion ($77 million). It became one leggiest films in the past 10 years with a multiplier of 14.

And in just two weeks, the final 'Bayside Shakedown' film opens which will more than likely find it's place on the charts, too.

So many numbers. :lol:So I guess TA will outgross TASM (38M) and is on track for 40-45 with a small outside shot at 50 making it the 5th highest grossing superhero movie in Japan. Great news all around!
