I heard that Ladies Day is a discount day for women in Japan? Is there also a Gentlemens day too? ;)

No.  The Japanese man is almost exclusively the sole source of income for himself and/or his family in Japan, and thus theaters don't offer any such day for a demographic that can largely afford going to the movies if they desire.  There are, as LABAS said, other discount days they can take advantage of at nearly any cinema chain during any time of the year, though.  Men as a whole though have little time to go the movies.  Females almost always make up more than 50% of any movie's audience.

While more women have been entering the workforce over the last few years (the strength of the economy's future also largely depends on this increasing), Japan is still a country where there aren't many opportunities for women in the workplace.

Nearly 3/4 women drop out of the work force to support their families as a stay-at-home housewife upon getting marrying and/or to have children.  And due to the hectic work/school systems in Japan, they don't really have time to have a job much less a career.  Men gain promotions and salary increases through time and hours spent at the workplace rather than on merit (switching from one job to another puts you at the bottom of the barrel again no matter your education or qualifications), and children have to begin prepping for their future before the age of 10 to get pass the entrance exams for the highest-ranked high schools and university's.

So theaters have Ladies' Day as a way of thanking them and to offer a more affordable movie-going experience.
