Weekend Estimates pg 60 Mad3 60.3 Prom 50.0

Look at Inception. This and Inception were running parallel on Friday with 21.8M vs. 21.4M. Inception on Saturday stayed flat with 21.8M and Prometheus should have stayed flat on Saturday with 21.4M if it had great WOM.

WOM doesn't affect 2nd day that much. Inception also wasn't rated R.

Could Prom's OW reflect that of Green Lantern? (it fell 22% on Saturday but less than 10% on Sunday, also released in June)

That Sunday was father's day.

Kids love Superman, Batman and the Hulk too. Their relaunches struggled. You're not taking into account how bad the marketing for TAS has been, its mixed reaction and the fact they're starting everything over after the ill-received Spider-Man 3. Those factors will hurt its box-office. At the most...$225M and if the 3D bump really helps (which it doesn't always See Wrath of the Titans still not crossing $100M domestic and John Carter).

International? No doubt it will save Sony's bacon here.

Superman Returns made way more than 200 m once you adjust it and add 3D. Ditto for Batman and Robin to a lesser extent. Hulk doesn't have four quadrant appeal by himself.

Batman Forever has a much lower RT rating than Spider-man 3. Most people despise that movie. But if Batman and Robin was an improvement and was in a 3D with today's ticket prices it would've made way more than 200 m. ASM is in a similar position but with a much better release date and top-level 3D.

You folks realize that there have been 7 BATMAN Movies in something like 22 years, beginning with the 1989 BATMAN and culminating with the soon to be lackluster TDKR in 2012.. Personally, I wish WB would give this franchise a rest after this, for at least 5 years cause if WB reboots this right away, count on a backlash of people getting sick of it..

Large scale reboots for the most part have been successful.

If ASM succeeds I don't see why WB would hesitate to reboot Batman ASAP.

The non-midnight drop is from 17.8-16.4, which is a 8% drop. For a R rated film that is normal. Look at some of the examples that Baumer and RTX were looking at before.

Better than normal, if you consider that neither Hangover, nor Inglorious Basterds had a rabid fanbase, that rushed to see the film on the opening day.Sex and the City fell 34% on Saturday (27% excluding midnights) - now that was a huge drop for an R rated film.

I would have to say though that Hangover and Sex and the City are comedies compared to Prometheus's sci-fi psuedo-horror themes, so its not an apple to apple comparison. But I do agree that it definitely isn't a bad drop,It doesn't rule out a bad drop tomorrow though, anything over about 25% I think is not a good sign.

I agree. I don't want another Batman film until the end of the decade.

What difference is it going to make to wait an extra decade?Casino Royale came out 4 years after Die Another Day and people went to watch and enjoy it anyway. Who wants to wait longer? All that matters if they have enough time to make a good movie.Batman is now WB biggest cash cow. Your crazy if you think they're going to put it on the shelf for 10 years just for the sake of waiting.
