The French site cine-directors who give us great information on the month of April, in particular on a first week envisaged at 1.5 million admissions for Fantastic Beasts 3. The saga would still be very popular here according to him.

That would be great for FB3.

How much did FB1 and FB2 get in their opening and totals?

Box office 03/16 to 03/22

(for new movies the previews are only counted in "cumul")

Despite a disappointing printemps du cinéma with 2 million people who go at cinema against +3m in 2018 and 2019, Notre-Dame brûle got a good jump with 120k accumulated on Monday and Tuesday, impressive, but still disappointing week for a film by Jean Jacques Annaud. Batman with -4.5% compared to last week is pretty much flat, Uncharted get a good boost with +24% and finally very good first week for Jujutsu Kaisen, pretty close to Demon Slayer first week but the drop for next week will probably be bigger due to having more favorable conditions (Demon Slayer had a gauge of 35%, no discount days and no previews).

Box office from 23/03 to 27/03

Some big drop this week partly explained by the good weather and no Sunday discount but it will be less big of a drop by the end Tuesday since the percentages compare 5 days vs 7 days, no idea why they did that.

Here some real drop

-54% The Batman
-59% Uncharted
-60% Notre-Dame Brûle
-60% A Plein Temps
-60% Permis de construire

-73% Jujutsu Kaisen

It will get worse since Monday and Tuesday were discount days last week. Bad start for the new movies too.

Worst week of the last 9 months in terms of attendance, see the positive side, this week Sonic 2, En corps, new Klapisch movie and Morbius are coming out and it's followed by school holidays in 2 weeks, it can only get better.

Some audience ratings of these new movies on day 1:
En corps: 4.1/5
Sonic 2:   3.7/5
Morbius: 2.4/5

Likely the ratings will continue to drop in the next few days.

155.635 admissions for Sonic 2 on its first day, it's better than the first Sonic 126.567, it is encouraging for the rest of the week.

I'm going to post the other day 1 figures once they're out.

Edit:

76,801 for Morbius, it is 52% less than Venom: Let There Be Carnage 161,674.

49,397 admissions (including 14,092 previews) for En corps

Morbius didn't have preview unlike Venom 2.

Weekend numbers:

Sonic 2: 712,678 admissions in 5 days vs 569.071 for the first one

Morbius: 361.458 admissions Venom 2 was at 541.032

En corps: 267.924

Morbius had a better Thursday and Friday than Sonic 2 but Sonic 2 weekend was much stronger.

I'm going to add the top 10 when it's out.

Edit:

Top 10 from 30/03 to 03/04

00.png

Sonic good weekend confirms it attracts young and family audience compared to Morbius, it's a good news knowing the school holidays start this weekend for the zone B.

Notre-Dame brûle has a good week 3 even if the cumul figures remain disappointing.

Pretty weak Monday and Tuesday for Sonic 2 like expected after the disappointing Thursday and Friday but it should do better on weekdays with school holidays next week.

This week the big release is "Qu’est-ce qu’on a tous fait au bon dieu?", it will be interesting to see what it does compared to 2 first movies of the saga, Ary Abittan, one of actor, is accused of rape and was sued by a woman end 2021, it could hurt the film box office...

Any updates?

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore first day made 317,026 admissions (including 139,319 previews), better than the 1 (210k) and close to 2 (322k). This week is school holiday week so it's difficult to compare that with the 2 first movies.

First forecast by CD is 1.55M for the first week

85648.png

Box office of the week is out, "qu'est ce qu'on a tous fait au bon dieu" does much less well that the 2 previous movies, as a reminder it was 1 680 249 admissions for the first and 2 153 093 for the second, a big drop was expected, the audience target for this type of movie has been strongly impacted since covid but doing below 1M is still disappointing.
