lab276
I don't know, I'm just not disappointed in it. At least it was a good movie.

Moviedweeb
There's no way Universal only spent $45 million on the global marketing and distribution for a $120 million Tom Cruise film. You are probably right, but my point was that the film has not made any profit yet. GodIsCool
There's no way Universal only spent $45 million on the global marketing and distribution for a $120 million Tom Cruise film. There's no way they spent much more than that. The marketing was lacklustre both in terms of quality and saturation. They didn't even have a Superbowl trailer, something that makde perfect sense considering its release date. Universal effectively dumped this movie and banked almost solely Cruise's star power to sell it.
Moviedweeb
Looks like $300m WW isn't completely off the table yet. It only needs ~$33m more and it's apparently outperforming Skyfall in Japan (which made ~$32m).
zackzack
Cruise is still a force to be reckoned with in Japan

John Marston
Nope not possible. honestly, I mean it, this is the most disappointing BO run I have seen. This film deserves WAY better.
A Marvel Fanboy
Just as AE is not a flop, Oblivion is not a flop. Flop at DOM doesnot make it a WW flop.

GodIsCool
I'd say without Iron Man 3 it would have made 10% more. Bloody Iron Man. With a good marketing compaign it would have made $350m. Marketing campaign was the worst for a big studio movie since John Carter. They played the plot too close to their chests, hoping people would be intrigued by a mystery, but instead it failed to capture what the story was about or give the movie a hook. The Dark Alfred
With a summer opening it certainly would have made a lot more. Look at the god awful AE doing a 45m opening, Oblivion would have easily done 60m and its legs would have been better as well. At least it's still beating AE both domestically and OS lol
