"They?" You are generalising a wee bit there with the Chinese audience. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half it's audience have even seen SW: ANH.

ya its a pretty dumb comment considering the main issue with China is few have actually even seen the OT. That should be the least of Disney's worries there is whether or not people will feel it is too similar to ANH. lol. And from what I have read the SW fans they do have there tend to prefer the PT.

Well we are talking about the highest grossing films of all time on a box office theory website, and China is the final decider between Titanic (#2)  and TFA (#3). I don't even have to post as it happens naturally.

It's got mon at 50m, hopefully actuals come in at this number or higher. It was the low end of the pre-sale multi. 4x 12.5m.

So it's going to be a 63-65%  drop.

Pre-sales for tues are at 10.4m. Down 17% at this time yesterday. The presale multi usually increases when getting further away from OD. So it has a shot at dropping at the 12% average. If 17% or higher happens then it's likely to fade hard into the weekend and a  70% drop could happen w/o/w

 

 

 

Maoyan has 46.94m for Monday.

I don't think we do have an adjusted thread anywhere. Someone is welcome to create it -- although I fear it'll turn into more franchise posturing. (Domestic adjusted is hard enough, international adjusted is basically a fools' task).

yup, they adjust at 10am to actuals. was hoping it at held 50m.

presale are within -10% from yesterday at this time.

best comparison right now is AOU starting from Saturday. AOU had a bigger weekend but didn't hold as well in to Monday and had large w/o/w drops. SW7 mite hold 10% for Tues. we'll see in a few hours. Hopefully it can outperform the dailies.  then looking for SW7 to match the Friday/Saturday bump. AOU took a hit on its third Tues when it lost half its screens to Tomorrowland which bombed.

So will films produced by Legendary Films be considered imports? I assume yes since it is still legally an American company? Is there any specific regulation on foreign imports and co-productions? I can read Chinese if needed.
