Meanwhile, Warcraft just profited $8 millions. I don't think the movie's gonna have a huge money.

Imagine the yuan in same value of the dollars, how incredible would be...

If you're interested in a more detailed breakdown of the revenues and costs a movie has check out Deadline's breakdown of Star Wars.

That would be $35 per ticket, it would mean the world economies have crashed and blood in the streets. That would be pretty incredible! ☻

Numbers at 3pm

WC 123 mill

XA  27 mill

Lets hope it doubles up from there

Run rate takes WC to 230-235 -21%

XMA 46-48 +1%

AB going to hold flat and is on its way to quietly making $80m. Decent run for a brand new toon.

A2 will be slightly down and will finish with 400m/$60. Also not bad considering domestic will finish under $100m

Will they drop on sat?

Work day on Sunday so evening should be weaker. However AB and A2 have few evening shows and the drop could be small. XMA has made less per hour after 1900 indicating that WC has more of the late shows. So XMA will take less of a hit than WC. If sat plays like a Sunday drop then XMA could fall 20%, WC 30%.

I think Sunday will play out like a summer Monday drop -50%

Is 230-235 m good for Warcraft ? I don't know how chinese boxoffice works.

Might be in the 220s. That's a big number, $34m.  815m/$124m for a 3 day CBO record. The drop is a little bigger than I thought for a good WoM movie. It must not be spreading widely to the GA. Tomorrow's drop may be bigger than 30% showing that it's frontloaded by the fanbase.

So 150m (US dollars) in 5 days for WC confirmed?

How is the WOM for Warcraft ?

Even if it drops hard on sat 35% and sun 50%, it'll get to ¥1.025B/ $156m.

The bigger question is what the hold will be like next weekend if it's a major frontload. We will be able to get an idea with Monday and Tuesdays hold.

Toons aren't big openers. TJB and ZOO opened at $6m and $3.8m on OD but both popped with WoM to go on to make $150m and $240m.

FD PS aren't popping and the open looks like it will be small as well. That'll give XMA and WC a chance to keep screens next week.  XMA will beat DOFP. WC should have 1.5b beat but you never know in china,  if the demo is exhausted the BO falls out of bed quickly. It needs to hold better than -15% daily mon thru thur.

Friday Estimates

Warcraft - 216M/815M (-28%, demand is already flagging)

X-Men: Apocalypse 45M/593M

Angry Birds - 9.9M/497M

Looking good still though, could have bombed harder.
