vc2002
LiT might challenge Titanic 3D at this speed. It has become an event that people will say to you "I know you dont go to cinema too much, but you gotta watch this one."
A Marvel Fanboy
Its confirmed: LiT Monday 46M yuan, biggest Monday EVER ! TF3 first Monday was even less than 40M yuan in Summer and TF3 did 360M yuan 2nd week. All it means LiT will smash 2nd weekly bo record !!! I say 400M at least for this week, which means it becomes biggest local films EVER in 12 days. Noticing new year holiday coming next weekend...... watch out, Mr. James Cameron ... vc2002
The volume of this market is growing so fast that records are getting consistently beaten. It's kinda scary to think how much TF4 and Avatar 2 will do 2 or 3 years later. It's interesting that LiT, the soon-to-be chaimpion of dom films, is actually a low budget production. It only cost sth like $4.5 - 5m. It didn't have the biggest stars, or those expensive eye candy visuals. It's just fun and more fun. 1942, which was said to cost at least 30m, had all the big-names (including one from hollywood), big productions, totally disappointed at the boxoffice. This will give local studios a really meaningful lession. Edited December 18, 2012 by vc2002
A Marvel Fanboy
2015 could be the time. By then, the yearly bo could be $5B+.Overal 2012 yearly will reach 2.7B thanks to record breaking Dec, increasing nearly 30% from 2011.2013 will be relatively weak. But 2014 and 2015 will be explosive. We had our first $40M+ opener (Avatar) in 2010, and first $50M+ (TF3) / first $60M+ (TF3) in 2011, first $70M+ opener (T3D) in 2012.We will have our first $80M+ opener in 2013 (let the bullits fly 2), and I am 100% sure $100M+ / $150M+ opener (TF4) will happen in 2014. POLYLOVE
I'm very glad that LiT will beat Painted Skin 2 to be the top grossing local movie of all time.
POLYLOVE
Even 5% screens can make LoP get an extension, maybe SARFT won't allow that.
