China Box Office Thread | Deadpool & Wolverine- July 26

Estimates have Smaug Friday around 55~58m incl premieres, a significant increase (57%) over the first Hobbit. Considering Smaug notably downfell in some key markets and barely stayed flat in many others, the bump from China is really exceptional, which can only be possibly explained by the growing market (Smaug screens added 40% more AUJ and February has been performing 80%+ better than last year).

Meanwhile, all holdovers dropped hefty. Smaug counted for 65% Friday business. No strong contender is also a favor: BLS is claming, Monkey and fellow holiday releases are closing, unlike AUJ hiding in the shadow of JTTT throughtout the run. Not to mention AUJ itself underperformed.

We import a trillion dollars of their crap and they limit our exports. No wonder why our economy and currency has gone to hell.I thought Frozen could do 50m + there. No chance now. Could do 100m in Japan though based on S Korea's run.

It never had a chance.

30m by sunday?Never say never

Still thinking no more than 35M. Tomorrow half of its showtimes will be lost.

If it does 50M, I'll eat my hat!

I think you need to cool down a bit. as Olive said holidays are done after this weekend and so it will drop hard plus Hobbit will take away lots of screens. 40M in China would be great.

Frozen's will be extended for 2 more weeks.Feb 5 to march 20.

50m

Locked!
