June 8 would be a great date for FF6 but they replaced it with the shitty "Switch". It would do at least $100M with June 8, $120M possible. June 20 is a terrible date. In its 2nd week, most of FF6 screens will be taken and it will have to compete with After Earth the same time. Now even 65M would be lucky.

Sunday for ADIC didnt drop from Saturday ...  :o  Another 500M+ local film here we come.

Hollywood movies only have won 4 weeks so far of all 20 weeks. The next Hollywood to win one week will be FF6 then it will be over. Cant catch a break.

Last year 2012 Hollywood won more than 30 weeks, this year 15 would be lucky.

American Dream in China --- Big 70%+ jump on Saturday helped by growwing word of mouth and almost flat on Sunday. Based on how it held through the week and how it is doing on Monday (Mondday number to be around Friday), this is obviously another 500M+ local film, especially considering excellent wom and less competitions within one month following. One thing to note, this movie is especially hot among college students. These audience could power it with great legs through the entire graduation season, which means it probably will even have a shot at $100M.

Iron Man 3 --- Down 60% from last week, the superhero coproduction finally managed to catch So Young on Sunday morning. It was not an easy work. And from here, the gap between the two will be very small that it doesnot really matter which does (slightly) better in the end. It is a TIE.

So Young --- It got hurt from ADIC. 700M+ for a crap YA cash-grabber ? Anyway, it doesnot deserve this much box office. Nothing more to say.

Oblivion --- Movies with good word of mouth usually increase at least 50% from three days opening. Oblivion decreased. Another Hollywood movie with poor legs. It will end less than $25M.

Croods, The --- what a beast run for an animated film. It already beat Hobbit. With a run extended to June 24, even 400M $64M total is possible. It will pass GIJ2 at 337M next week and then Skyfall at 375M to become second biggest foreign film behind IM3 of the year to date.

And since Croods now will be closed on June 24th, we can guess that the next Hollywood animation, Monsters University, will be released on June 25th.

The world gets crazy!!!! China box office will reach ¥23B($3.7B) in 2013,+35% by last year. ¥500M can‘t rank #10 this year ,#10 Journey 2: The Mysterious Island ¥364M in 2012.

And what is crazier: maybe IM3 will be the only foreign film in the top 10 of 2013 ...

(FF6 had got a chance but then it was moved from a best date to a worst one).

The release day seems not bad, it has 7 days before Tiny Times comes, maybe ¥400M already have be finished.

I think the release date much better than Tiny Times and Badges of Fury, the two big movies will release in 2 days, like TDKR and TASM released in the same day last year.

Wrong. 7 days later after FF6 opens, most of its screens will be gone. Tiny Times and Badges have nothing to compete for a whole month following during summer holidays, not like TASM/TDKR at all, which was in September and had Prometheus and TE2 the same week.

After Earth will also open with FF6. 400M in 7 days ? Kidding ... more like 300M if it is lucky.

As someone said, FF6 could have a shot at 800M had it released on June 8, but now 400M will be lucky.

Since IM3 did 120M+ on its only holiday day. It can be assumed that FF6 could do 300M+ from the three days Dragon Boat holidays alone. But it got pushed. Plus June 8 means no competitors within 20 days. In other worlds, that would be some 400M lost for FF6. IM3 lost 200M+ for missing two days of the May holiday.

That "American Dreams in China" number is just so astonishing! About $17 million USD in three days?  Firedeep, does that film have similar hype as So Young did?  Review wise, is it better than So Young's?  Do you think its going to do Finding Mr. Right numbers or more?

And what is your prediction for Tiny Times boxoffice number?

IM3 would have easily won with the same release date as SY so to me it's a clear winner as it had to deal with a lot of bureaucracy in China.  :D

Its pre-release hype was just about one third atm of that of So Young I would say. Reviews/wom for it is much much much better than SY, probably even better than FMR. Yes, I think it will do FMR numbers, easily. It may dominate until FF6 arrives on June 20.

Tiny Times is likely the most hyped local film of the year I think, more hyped than SY. Some who have seen test screening said it is a very solid film. 800M for TT is possible IMO.
