SAG Thread (nominees in 1st post)

baumer believes Bin Laden died years ago but for some reason the US waited those years before staging a fake SEAL raid and announcement of BL's death, instead of taking credit for it much earlier with similar staging.

Well, didn't you know, April 2011 was the perfect time to do it because there was an election 19 months later... Perfect timing!

Several films that were not ready for screenings and/or to be sent out on screeners until very late in the game were, not surprisingly, under-represented or altogether snubbed Wednesday. Sony's Zero Dark Thirty, which has dominated the critics' awards group circuit, was sent out only a few days ago, and because its screeners had to be watermarked to safeguard against the film leaking online prior to its theatrical release -- an extremely expensive process -- it was sent to only a portion of SAG's nominating committee. The film's star Jessica Chastain still managed to score a best actress nomination, but its cast was not acknowledged in the best ensemble category. Even less fortunate were The Weinstein Co.'s Django Unchained and Focus Features' Promised Land, which were completely shut out.

I just want to know when baumer thinks Bin Laden died and when the US government realized it. Because if Bush and company knew Bin Laden was dead while they were in office they'd have taken care of business then and there.

LOL @ Maggie Smith. There's no stopping that old woman. I'm surprised she didn't get nominated for that other movie too.As much as I love her Dench certainly deserved a nomination. She gave a very touching performance. The whole movie was touching.

How can Django be left out of supporting? What a load of bullshit....is this because the screeners were not sent out?

Yes. Barely any SAG members got a chance to see it.And according to Kris Tapley the DGA didn't get Django screeners either... so I guess maybe Harvey dropped the ball there.
