My parents (both in their late 60's) went to see this.  They have a pretty low bar for entertainment (by my standards, anyway, lol), but said it wasn't worth seeing.  I was surprised.

Cruise should stop doing only action/sci-fi movies non stop...in between he needs to take/mix other genres as well

The wife is out with friends tonight. I made an audible(which I'll have to fess up to later tonight) to go see this.

 

While I think the RT critic score is harsh and the Audience score also harsh I'll agree it has problems. The main one is pacing imo.

It felt slow moving quite a few times. Now when the action fights started, they were good. The trope of the teenage girl who just will.not.listen and causes problems was easily seen coming.

 

The feminist agenda of Major Turner insisting she's just as good(despite getting her ass handed to her by the main bad guy earlier, with Jack also getting whooped) was annoying. She'd be dead.

Ehhhh my issue was more with the film refusing to give her any point or agency of her own despite her feminism. Super insulting

Will Jack Reacher hit $60m over the Thanksgiving long weekend time frame? Hitting the posted budget is sure to look good to the studio at least.
