Comedies in May don't have a great track record:

2016:    Neighbours 2 $50m
2015:    Hot Pursuit $35m
2014:    Blended ($46m), A Million Ways To Die in the West ($42m)
2012:    The Dictator ($59m), What To Expect When You're Expecting ($42m)

The exceptions being of course, Bridesmaids, Neighbours and the Hangover sequel.

Plus, embargo for this is allegedly Wednesday.

It didn't really help that those comedies were mediocre to bad. Neighbors 2 was actually decent-ish. It just wasn't a comedy sequel people asked for a la Jump Street. Plus it was poorly marketed.

Also, Pitch Perfect 2 was a big success in May as well.

53 one star reviews on Rotten Tomatoes from people calling Amy Schumer "fat and liberal"

 fucking losers.

Hope this opens over $20m next weekend just to shove in their faces.

Where on Rotten Tomatoes?  I don't see it.

Yeh, but I'm guessing Snatched isn't going to be a critical hit with the delayed embargo.

Via Flixter app... Someone called "Brandyn Stock" rated it 0 Stars and said "Why do they let this not funny, ugly, fat pug face pig be in anything. the liberal way be proud of ur body even when your fat"

His spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes, not mine.

Yep, Krissykins is right...lots of comments on her being fat.  People are strange.  People are assholes too.

They're horrible.

It's the anti Ghostbusters crowd. Low life.

(Before anyone starts, I mean the people who were commenting on Ghostbusters bodies/race/looks)

Why are people even blaming Schumer if they claim it looks unfunny?  She didn't even WRITE the film.

It's from the writer of The Heat and Ghostbusters, but I think Amy and her sister rewrote the basic script.

Something like that.

You think those people care enough to go check that?

I think there's enough demand for a comedy for this to pull around 75-85m DOM.

I'm not buying that as much of an excuse since that excuse was used with movies like Fist Fight and CHiPs.

There are other factors as well.

This has Mothers Day and is a countermarket to The rest of the competition that's out and coming out until June.  Amy Schumer also has a strong little fan base (that aren't the ones who'll be vocal online).

I think it's getting underestimated.  But I'm not sold on 100m.
