  1. I've seen the play August: Osage County. It is going to tear through the acting noms (Streep and Roberts plus SAG Ensemble are locks) but I'm not sure it can WIN best picture, based on the show.
  2. Well, it's better than the Master, but otherwise it isn't really one to recommend. EDIT: Certainly joking, before anybody calls me an idiot >_> (Did really dislike the Master, though)
  3. I hated 21 and Over, and this is coming from someone who enjoyed That's My Boy and A Good Day to Die Hard. So take that for what you will.
  4. Argo and lincoln had much more memorable scores, in my opinion. Instantly recognizable.
  5. They did. She died February 11th, before the Oscars. So last year she was not snubbed.
  6. Whitney was in it last year, I believe that's why she wasn't mentioned.
  7. God Samantha Barks is so hot. And Aaron tveit ripped it!
  8. How the blue hell can anyone say Jennifer Hudson didn't deserve the Oscar? She's incredible. Murphy deserved it too.
  9. Awful. Everybody I was with spent alot of the movie laughing at the cheesy dialogue and illogical plot points. Some of the visuals were great, but the acting and script killed it. One of if not the worst of 2012.
  10. Best Picture: Argo (Alt: Silver Linings) Best Director: Ang Lee (Alt: Speilberg) Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis (Alt: Bradley Cooper) Best Actress: Emanuella Riva (Alt: Jennifer Lawrence) Best Supporting Actor: Robert De Niro (Alt: Tommy Lee Jones) Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway (Alt: Sally Field) Best Original Screenplay: Amour (Alt: Django) Best Adapted Screenplay: Lincoln (Alt: Argo) Best Editing: Argo (Alt: Life of Pi)
  11. I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was flawed- there was some clunky dialogue and a rushed ending, but it had great heart and excellent performances. The Rock was occasionally unbelievable, but by no fault of his performance- it had more to with his size in relation to how the role was written. Otherwise, he was great. Michael K Williams (aka Omar) was an excellent, complex bad guy. But the main props have to go to Joe Bernthal. He was fucking incredible, in my opinion. So believable, so likable. One of the better performances of the past year, actually (as in, since last February).
  12. I have to give mine to QT. I'm not a big Kill Bill fan, but IB and DU are just genius. His style is unlike any other- the combination of brilliant characters, hilarious dialogue, all the monologues, the anarchoristic music, the violence...... it's the style of movie I would make. Brilliant, monologue driven performances, intense action, and loud, unexpected music choices. David O'Russell has hit it out of the park his last two movies, as well. He may not be a brilliant visual/artistic director, but he makes emotional, crowd pleasing movies as well as anyone. Plus, he brings out great performances from unexpected people. Nolan and Abrams have my money for any film they direct, too.
  13. 1, Star Trek Into Darkness 2. Man of Steel 3. Fast Six 4. G.I. Joe 2 5. Iron Man 3 6. Wolverine 7. White House Down 8. Pain and Gain 9. The Great Gatsby 10. The Lone Ranger
  14. I don't think you can dismiss the Rock's star/draw power after this- that's like dismissing Tatum after Side Effects. Both were niche films intended to increase their dramatic credibility, not box office clout. Besides, Snitch is still gonna do as much as Parker, TLS, and Bullet to The Head did combined on opening weekend. Plus, he outgrossed his Pain and Gain co star.
  15. Snitch was a pleasant surprise- excellent performances by The Rock, Omar from the Wire, and most especially the dude from the Walking Dead. Wish it was doing better.
  16. As someone who was pretty much obese through elementary and middle school that lost 70 pounds, I can't look at the fat issue through black and white. On one hand, I realize how hard and painful it can be. On the other, I also know with hard work, exercise and diet, most anybody can be skinny again.
  17. I enjoyed Die Hard 5 more than most people, but that number pretty much just sucks. It'll still make a profit WW, but after Taken 2, it just looks kinda pathetic. But holy hot damn for IT, that's incredible. And judging by the reception the trailer for the Heat got during Die Hard, that movie is going to break out too. McCarthy's huge.
  18. Alan Arkin over Murphy for Supporting Actor was one that I didn't like. Arkin was good in that movie, but it was pretty throwaway compared to Murphy's singing/acting/comedy in Dreamgirls. I thought he knocked it out of the park and more.
  19. Those numbers aren't great or awful. They just...... are. Business won't be too great today, its not exactly romantic film 101. Over the weekend it should do gangbusters.
  20. 2/13/13 2/6/13 1, Star Trek Into Darkness 2. Man of Steel 3. Fast Six 4. G.I. Joe 2 5. Iron Man 3 6. Wolverine 7. White House Down 8. Pain and Gain 9. The Great Gatsby 10. The Lone Ranger
  21. Excellent to see those increases for Warm Bodies and SLP. And that's just truly impressive for IT- first 30+ opening in years that I haven't spoken to one person about seeing. Without snow, IT could have hit 38+ and WB would have had an absolutely spectacular drop.
  22. I guess that's just a difference of opinion, then. I thought it was maybe the best performance of 2011. He's the type of quiet, brooding badass who can have screen presence without even saying a word. Very rare these days. I thought he was fantastic in Lawless, TDK, Inception, and Bronson too.
  23. Girls go crazy for Gosling. Nuts. Dude has blogs dedicated to him. He's charismatic enough to have crossover appeal, too. He just needs another Notebook, not things like Drive or Blue Valentine. Hardy and Pine have potential to be big stars, but they didn't really breakout in 2012 like they were supposed. Let's see how they do with their big franchises this year, though.
