  1. Its a mid-budget true story drama, those things don't survive in today's market without marquee names, fantastic reviews and an awards push. All im saying is that they clearly don't have hopes for it. La La Land moving to December means they're probably going to plan an awards campaign for that one.
  2. Based on what? Musicals aren't the safest bets. Deepwater Horizon could easily end up like Everest. Lionsgate basically dumped it September, so it isn't their big Oscar push and apparently is moving onto 'Patriots' Day' (the other Berg-Walhberg collaboration)
  3. Ghostbusters is probably passing Pixels, there are enough Melissa McCarthy fans and curious casual moviegoers that's going to guarantee atleast a 30m opening. Then even with Pixel-style legs it still gets to 95-97m. Angry Birds is going to be the kids go-to movie in May, that's doing atleast 100m, the marketing has been good.
  4. Miracles from Heaven will make them back some money that they lose on Grimsby. They're making a small profit from both Risen and 5th Wave, so Zombies isn't really going to hurt them either. I think Angry Birds and Ghostbusters will both do ok for them. Sausage Party, i'm less high on. Magnificent Seven and Passengers could go either way, the marketing has to be top notch.
  5. Sasha Baron Cohen should not have dropped the Freddy Mercury biopic. His career needs a rejuvenation.
  6. James Franco isn't exactly a hot commodity. Plus the plot is less family friendly, so i wouldn't expect Daddy's Home numbers. Sisters is probably a better comparison point.
  7. It looks like Fox doesn't have to worry about losing Jackman. Deadpool might be the anchor that the xmen universe needs to bring it to MCU and DCCU level.
  8. They did alot of marketing for this(SB spot), atleast more than Focus did for Race, so an opening on par with Race or a little below has got to be dissappointing.
  9. Still this was viewed as a potential franchise for them, trust me-- Lionsgate isn't happy. They desperately need Power Rangers to be a huge hit.
  10. gerard butler's career saddens me. He's about to have two flops within a week of each other.
  11. Good for The Witch, it cost like less than 1m and im sure they didn't spend much on marketing so this should make a tidy sum for A24.
  12. it's not directed by Ang Lee. Ang Lee directed Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk.
  13. I dont think it does Cinderella numbers. I do not feel any anticipation for this film, they waited too long for the sequel. I think it's going to have a Prince Caspian-like drop.
  14. Zootopia wont hurt it. Sing is being released during Christmas and will be one of the only family films, i think it looks cute and will probably do very well.
  15. Lol sucks for you. My theater gives no fucks I've seen middle school age kids get in unaccompanied by an adult.
  16. I really don't think deadpool's opening is going to change how studios think. We've seen these r-rated movies break out all the time.
  17. Why? That's the 4th film in a franchise. There is no comparison. The first hunger games with its 152m ow literally came out of nowhere and was way more impressive.
  18. No summer weekdays. This is probably going to beat DOFP but not much more than that. No way it grosses more than civil war or batman vs superman. Which both have more ideal release dates and wider audience appeal.
  19. I'd say yes. Alot of people are excited for it, i think its going to make more than Zootopia to be honest.
