  1. Not always. Intelligent soaps, like Revenge, can be quite thrilling.
  2. Considering that this show has a lot of soap opera elements (INCEST! MARRYING SOMEONE WHILE BEING PROMISED TO SOMEONE ELSE! ATTEMPTED MURDER! MURDER! RAPE! PLOTTING! EVEN MORE PLOTTING!), why wouldn't he like this show?
  3. Yeah, but it adds an element to the game that I'm against. If you want to do Superbowl spots, fine-but you shouldn't be rewarded for doing so. There's other players who don't participate, for one reason or another, who get disadvantaged by this rule. I would agree with you if the box office of movies influenced how much money a player had to make movies, but as it stands-it simply isn't a good idea to have.
  4. Well what about next year and the year after that?
  5. $10 million is a lot for the small films.
  6. Hints? Half the episode was about how he's not happy that his ex-girlfriend is his boss. It's pretty clear that the romantic drama is going to a part of the show. This show isn't subtle at all.I think I capture my problem with the show in this sentence from my blog:
  7. I think that Blue Heart is one of my best plotted movies. It's not as good as Ender's Game from CAYOM A, or Reset, but it's definably better than my CAYOM B films.
  8. What? Are you saying that to have the highest opening weekend, you would have to participate? I'm sorry, but no. All the extra-promotion for this game has always been done as a hobby and not required, and this changes the game too much.
  9. Name: Blue Heart Director: Genndy Tartakosvky (creator of Dexter's Labratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Sym-Bionic Titan) Writer: David Magee Genre: Animated/Drama Date: February 22nd, March 1st Cast: Unknowns (if you need names for whatever reason, I'll come up with a name for you) Plot: Theaters: 500, 2,000 MPAA Rating: R Budget: $10 million
  10. No you didn't misread. You're fine. I'm sure they got rid of the virus, but the forum software was ancient and probably got broken. Plus the forum kept breaking more and more, and IMDB didn't want to spend any resources to fix it.
  11. Name: The Dead in the House Director: Simon Curtis (My Week With Marilyn) Writer: John Banville (Albert Nobbs, The Last September) Genre: Drama Date: July 12, July 19, July 26, August 2 Theaters: 50, 500, 1,250, 3,000 Cast: Colin Firth...Arnold Felicity Huffman...Karen Molly C. Quinn (Castle, Eureka)...Laura Max Burkholder (Parenthood)...Jack Kyle Catlett...Mark Bill Paxton...The Doctor Plot: MPAA Rating: PG-13 Budget: $35 million
  12. I used to think that Arrested Development was the best comedy of all time, and definably amongst the best series. It's simply non-stop laughing whenever I see an episode. As I watch more and more TV, Arrested Development generally stays on the top spot since very few shows can match the laugh-a-minute pace of that show nor the dedication it took to running gags and visual jokes. Not only that, but everything in that show was pretty much connected somehow. The thing about Arrested Development is that it lacked a lot of emotional impact. Arrested Development is funny but it won't really make you sad or depressed or any complex feeling. It's simply makes one happy to be watching the show and because you're laughing.I've been reviewing The Wonder Years for my blog. The more episodes I watch the more I realize: the Wonder Years might not be as funny, but it's the better show. It manages to explore the 60's/70's way better than That 70's Show or Mad Men, it manages to use the time period and the characters for maximum emotional effect, and it is a funny show.I think that the Wonder Years might be the best show that has ever been made. Now, I'm not sure if I'll still think this when I watch anything beyond the first season. But the first season of the Wonder Years has so far been one of the best seasons of television I have seen.
  13. -http://www.cbspresse...s/view?id=32146 Who says that press employees don't have any fun? For those wondering, ABC recently premiered a new reality show called the Glass House which is eerily similar to Big Brother (and by eerily similar, practically being the same). CBS is suing them and then CBS Press decides that a nice satire is in order.
  14. NBC canceled it but ABC studios wanted more syndication money. The real question is why it got a ninth season considering how low the ratings were in the eighth season.I more miss the show it was paired with when it was on ABC. Better Off Ted was a true gem of a comedy.
  15. I believe you can still turn them in. This thread is just not relevant anymore.
  16. And I failed. Maybe I can get some writing done this weekend.
  17. Okay, I'll try to write some films this week. Problem is I'm busy with my blog, being an admin, and making an RPG.
  18. Probably not. It was just extremely frontloaded apparently.
  19. B- It's good, but barely. The bad things: 1) Kristen Stewart. She wasn't terrible, but I couldn't ever get a good read from her. Which takes me to point two: 2) Who the hell is Snow White? I understand she's pure, she's life itself, all that bullshit said about her. I wanted to KNOW her. The movie didn't properly make her a character. This was both due to Kristen Stewart's performance but also the script. The script kept telling us about her character rather than you know...actually making one. This meant that when the movie ended and she was crowned queen, it didn't have the impact it was supposed to have. I didn't leave the theater excited and my heart pumping. I was more like "Eh, she can't be any worse than the Evil Queen." For the record, the Evil Queen wasn't developed much as a character other than she's evil and obsessed with beauty/youth but I still wanted her defeated so not that major of a problem. 3) Worst inspirational speech before a battle ever. This was only minimal on Kristen Stewart since I don't think even Meryl Streep and other actresses of that caliber could have made it work. It felt more like she was trying to get people to grudgingly follow her and not die to make her queen. That speech was just terrible. 4) The movie didn't properly develop the relationship between the Huntsman and Snow White. Considering that's what the movie's title is about, this is a big problem. It should have taken less time with the Prince Charming character and the Queen scenes and more time showing us the Huntsman and Snow get closer. The movie tried for a Han Solo-Leia kind of relationship but failed because it didn't take the time to actually make it work. 5) What were the rules of magic? Why didn't the Evil Queen's magic work in the Dark Forest? Why show us why she has her youth spell but not her other magic spells? The movie didn't properly develop it's world. In essence, the problem with the movie was it just had stuff happened without any rules and without bothering to make us care. On the other hand, the cool stuff that happened was pretty cool and Chris Hemsworth was entertaining as he tried to mimic Harrison Ford. It was entertaining enough, although it dragged in some places-places where the movie could have better developed it's characters, world, and relationships. I enjoyed this movie despite it's flaws but I felt that if it had a better script and a different lead, this could have been a much better movie.
  20. To be fair, only a few British sitcoms are funny.
