  1. Silly question: when's the deadline? I won't be able to start writing any films until Monday.
  2. <_<I was there. I remember asking for a word limit after that film but everyone turned me down.

  4. I will state that it's funny that people in CAYOM apparently care so much about a studio that they're willing to protest it's closing. I can't imagine anyone in real life, except for maybe a couple loonies, protesting an actual studio's closure.(Oh and while you can keep all the rights you want Hiccup, technically O$corp would have no legal grounds to keep the franchises. It would have to buy all the rights. You still have them as a player and they transfer over to the studio, but a little nitpick on your press release.)
  5. "A movie studio is shutting down! Let's save it by not going to their movies! That'll work...right? RIGHT!?"
  6. Yeah, because he was a nobody (I believe.) Galecki was known from Roseanne and was envisioned as the lead character. Cuoko was in another sit-com that died when it's star died. Generally, if you're a TV star then you'll get paid more than if you're just starting out.
  7. I doubt anybody forgot the year I did half of the opening weeks for a year. I was all like: :tomatoes:So if I were you, I wouldn't make such promises. People tend to like "safe" Actuals that reward their hard work rather than chaos.
  8. I think you need to define "big guys" better. It seems like you're largely talking about who dominated the Oscars rather than the whole game?
  9. When the Part One for Year 4 is posted (and stickied) in a week or something, post it there. If you have any general questions on how to play the game:http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/610-cayom-player-guide-how-to-play/That should cover it. If you have specific questions, ask in that thread.
  10. It should be noted that back in 1997 (or maybe before), the Friends cast also renegotiated their contracts just like Modern Family cast did. It's common practice to renegotiate after the third or fourth season. The Big Bang Theory pays Jim Parsons a similar salary to what they are making now (over $100k an episode) but he was making the same money they were the first three seasons. It's not exactly like ABC was in the wrong here. I'm not really making the point that they shouldn't get a raise or shouldn't ask for one, but my point is that the cast was still getting wealthy (they were making $1.4 million a season) from the show.
  11. To be fair, making economics interesting is a talent that very few actors and actresses possess.
  12. While it's no doubt that the Modern Family cast is talented, to state that they're more important than the writers is wrong. They got those Emmy nominations because of the great scripts that led to those performances. Not only that, but you seemed to ignore what I said-the actors are making more money than the people who make sure that the jokes are top-notch to begin with. If we're really going by on importance, then the writing team deserves to also make way more money than they're currently making. After all-you're argument is that Modern Family cast deserves that raise because their important to the show. And yet you ignore the people behind-the-scenes who work hard to make Modern Family episodes work as well as they do. That's hypocritical in my opinion. Half the average? $65,000 is the average for a TV actor on most shows. The numbers you listed are for TV leads (which is different)-which could have only applied to Ed O'Neil when those contracts were drawn up as he was the only star. This is an ensemble show without a few main characters (like in the Big Bang Theory, where the leads are easily Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon or CSI: Miami with David Horatio). As to #1 scripted show, it is number one in terms of adults 18-49 (which is what matters to advertisers/networks) but not in viewers (which is what matters to the public). Kiefer Sutherland gets the salary not because of Touch, but because of 24. Ashton Kutcher gets that salary because he's a movie star and because his time on That 70's Show. There's a reason Ed O'Neill was making more money than the rest of his cast until this deal-his time on Married with Children. You also fail to neglect how in the case of Touch, Kiefer Sutherland is the only one the network has to pay an absurd amount of money to. In the case of Modern Family, there are six actors-making it more costly for 20th Century Fox. I'm not saying that them getting raises are bad, but let's not pretend that it's a crime against nature for them to not get them.
  13. For their line of work? Most actors and actresses are lucky to make $65,000 their entire career. Now comparing it to Modern Family's success, then maybe you can make the guess-but if that's the case, what about the writers? After all, if the writing was weak then the actors wouldn't have any good jokes to sell. They make an average of $200,000 a year (since their in Hollywood), but these actors will be making that within two weeks.
  14. The deal automatically includes raises, despite the ratings.
  15. Making $65,000 a week when the average American annual salary is less than $50,000, I wouldn't say that's "very little". Not that they don't deserve their raise, but let's not pretend their starving.
  16. Kind of. It's not normal per se, but it is definably not common. The Big Bang Theory manage to have peaceful negotiations.Anyways, it's over and the cast got more money.
  17. Nope. The warning's removal doesn't negate the rule that you have to wait until after the film has opened worldwide. The notice was set to merely expire at the time, but the rule remains.
  18. Didn't The Voyage or something get me my first BP nomination? Not sure. If I cared about the Oscars, I'd probably remember.
  19. Well it looks like cast renegotiation are starting to get ugly.
  20. Not necessarily. Fox Television Studios does, but I don't think the contract extends to any feature films.
