  1. You can get around the ip geo-block by using a service such as http://www.unblock-us.com
  2. I think to many people the idea of 'well I enjoyed X movie better, but Y is the better movie' to be a ridiculous idea. For many, movies are simply about enjoyment and therefore that statement makes no sense what so ever. If you enjoyed movie X better than Y then X MUST be the better movie for you. It's also why some will call someone pretentious if they say something like 'You are wrong when you say Citizen Kane is one of the worst movies of all time'. If it' all about enjoyment then your opinion is just as valid as theirs. It would be like getting upset that someone considers an apple to taste better than a grape. Each persons individual tastes are different and who are you to say that one food is tastier than the other? But, you can compare food in other ways. It's quite possible to call one food 'better' than another for example if you compare their nutritional value. You can break down the elements of an apple and a grape and say that this food is better than that food in providing nutrients in this particular area. And while breaking down a movie is certainly less of an exact science then breaking down nutritional readings, I still feel it can absolutely be done. You can look at the camera work and point out why this particular shot works well at setting the mood or communicating a particular idea. You can analyse the script and reel of reasons why this particular character has great depth or is written in a shallow manner. You can look at the acting involved and explain why this particular actor grabbed you or why he failed to draw you in. And so on and so on. And while there is a degree of subjectivity involved, that doesn't mean that all opinions are equal. Those who study the art of cinema are going to be more apt at describing why this particular film either works or it doesn't work. And those who have not studied as much are going to be less able to do so. So ultimately it really depends on what you are looking at as to what determines if a movie is good or bad. If you simply looking at films as a means of entertainment then its a completely subjective experience and saying Citizen Kane is shit is just as valid an opinion as saying its amazing. However if films are not all about entertainment to you and you are willing to look at a movie and break it down, then saying Citizen Kane is a shit movie...well I'm really not sure how you could justify that opinion.
  3. I'm on the love Honest Trailers but don't really care for CinemaSins bandwagon. I'm also on the, it's not a problem with those videos but with people taking those videos as actual valid criticism bandwagon. And finally I'm on the if you don't find either channel funny then good for you but no need to critisize what other people enjoy bandwagon.
  4. Ahhh BOF, you never disappoint me with how terrible your taste is in movies
  5. The dumbest movie that Cameron has ever made......and he made fucking Avatar. Kinda entertaining but its just soooo all over the place.
  6. I enjoyed the opening action scene where they were rescuing Wesley Snipes but then the plot starts and my brain goes 'WTF'. It's watchable if you want an action movie, but its very much on the weak side of watchable.
  7. Do 'collection' sets count such as super mario allstars, or should we break them up into their own games?
  8. Human Beings have always had a problem with objective vs subjective. If we side-step into the realm of morality for a second who is to say that helping an old lady across the street is more moral than punching her in the stomach and stealing her handbag? Why is one action considered 'good' and one action considered 'bad'? And I must say that at age 30 I really don't care anymore. If someone wants to argue that punching an old lady in the stomach is perfectly fine then let them have that opinion, I'm just glad I live in a society that will punish that action. Likewise if I filmed 200 people taking a shit and cut that into a 2 hour movie, and someone wants to call that movie better than Casablanca or even Transformers 4, and tell anyone who says their taste is rubbish that all taste is subjective, then let them. I really don't care anymore. I'll just keep on thinking that their taste is simply rubbish and to never listen to any opinion they ever have on film.
  9. The best of the Marvel Movies by a country mile. If I was 10 I could totally see this movie having a star wars like effect on me.
  10. I'm thinking of trolling and putting Space Chimps 2 as my #1 film of all time so Lisa has to write a little something about it in the run down.
  11. You know what I completely agree with you when you said "That's what I like about Star Wars casting approach, they didn't close their potential thinking "Well, it's the lead, we got to choose only whites to test and cast among Hollywood top agencies". For exemple, Billy Dee Williams tested for the Han Solo role because nothing on paper screamed Han Solo got to be white only. Just like I'd like to think there were white, latino, asian, black people that tested for the role John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Lupita Nyong'o landed. Talent comes in any shape and color if you're primarily looking for it. That would be ideal if most castings were resuming that way." I'm the one championing the need for a colour blind society after-all. I just think your post that I originally quoted was poorly worded and still do.
  12. So because Larry King got a game the 'cesspool' is not as Narrow as it is in Hollywood? You may as well say the same about Will Smith in Hollywood vs the NBA I really think you should have thought through that post a bit more buddy.
  13. You said, and I quote "he was still allowed to play in NBA being white so comparing NBA and Hollywood don't bode well because NBA is not "Blacks reserved only"" Now when you say you can't compare NBA with Hollywood because NBA 'isn't black reserved only', what do you think Dash you are implying about Hollywood??? Those were your words. If you phrased them poorly then you only have yourself to blame.
  14. Hollywood isn't 'Whites reserved only'. Say hi to Will Smith.
  15. Easy their blankments, you only have 100 likes right???
