Ocean’s 8 is a lot of fun, plays beat for best how you’d expect a caper like it to play out, but it’s enjoyable the whole way through. All the personalities on screen work well together.
A solid B/B- kind of movie
Oh I didn’t know Widows released a trailer, I’ll go watch it (also I didn’t know A Star is Born did either so I just watched that)
Ill correct myself and say Bumblebee was the best ‘tentpole’ Trailer
Also, it’ll have been over a month since our last 100m opener. Plus there’s been a scarcity in family flicks this year, I think that audience is ready to go to something.
I think a 150m+ opening Could happen
Yeah, there’s a reason BP struck a chord and stuff like Blade, War Machine, etc. have not. It’s not just having a black protagonist but a film that encapsulates the culture and provides a role model within it.
I'm either seeing Adrift, Ocean's 8 or Hereditary this weekend.
I need to catch up on my movie going this year, I've been slacking.
Haven't seen
A Quiet Place
Paddington 2
Isle of Dogs
Tully
Ready Player One
Early Man
Blockers
Usane
Chappaquidick
Love, Simon
Upgrade
Wrinkle in Time
Rampage
I have seen Death of Stalin though, so that's neat.
I never get the product placement debate. Like we’re supposed to pretend brands don’t exist and it’s an unrealistic cash grab to incorporate them (because nobody irl ever talks about them or uses them).
I think if you put it up in the Speakeasy instead of here it’d be okay. But I’d still probably think the deadlines should be in position where two big lists won’t be counting down at the same time
