So around $7.25 million OW. Not bad.
-
I think this is a good number. $350 million WW will likely happen with a shot at $400 million if it breaks out domestically.
-
No, I haven't. It isn't playing near me but I have read a lot of feedback and it would've done very well in wide release. If you have Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling as lead then you need to go with the wide release format.
-
The Place Beyond The Pines numbers are absolutely stunning for a limited release at this time of the year. They should've spend some money on P&A. This is the sort of movie that could've made 60-70 million with a proper wide release.

In The Heart Of The Sea | December 11, 2015 | New Trailer on Page 8
TLK replied to Neo's topic in Box Office Discussion
I think this should be now moved to the main Box Office forum. http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/ron-howard-in-the-heart-of-the-sea-tom-holland-moby-dick/#utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter EXCLUSIVE: Brit youngster Tom Holland is moving from his breakout debut The Impossible to another watery high profile project. He’s been cast in Warner Bros.’ In The Heart Of The Sea, the long-gestating seafaring adventure helmed by Ron Howard from a script by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond). Chris Hemsworth is starring in the pic adapted from Nathaniel Philbrick’s award-winning book In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, an account of a whaling ship that was stalked and destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820. The tragedy left the crew of the Essex adrift for 90 days in the Pacific during which they turned to cannibalism before eight survivors made it home, an ordeal that partially influenced Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. -
Great drops for all movies so far. The Place Beyond The Pines made $709k from 30 theaters in its second week.

Yeah, he is one of my favorites so is Nolan and I don't want Nolan making a romantic movie either. That movie will not be in his comfort zone.Actually I am looking forward to Crimson Peak as long as it is an old school horror that GDT talked about in one of his earlier interviews. I like character driven horror movies and dislike the new found footage fad and for the record I like each of GDT produced horror picture with the exception of Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark, which isn't a bad movie either.
-
Nope. This is a Box Office forum and 90% of the discussion in this forum is about movies that are to be released in future. People are going to discuss the movie. Some people will diss it without seeing it. Some people like you will rave about it without seeing it either. This is how it is. If you can't deal with the criticism then find another hobby. The fact is that Del Toro has spend last few years catering exclusively to fanboys. Can he make a successful gothic romance ? Maybe but I don't expect him to.
-
What does GDT know about romance ? Don't get me wrong. He is one of my favorite directors but the man clearly knows more about horror than romance, gothic or otherwise.
-
I have never played this game before and it looks very intimidating but I am gonna give it a shot this year. Edit - Here is my entry. http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/9467-bsg-6-6-starts-april-26th-bonus-qust-are-up-plz-c-pg-7-for-lowest-grossing-film-update/?p=737863

Friday Numbers - ED 30M+, JP 17 (30M and 17M predicted OW)

My theory is that horror movie endings are almost always divisive and that results in a lower Cinemascore. This is a survey of people exiting the theaters just after watching the movie and if you hate the ending you are not going to give the movie a high rating. -

http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/first-box-office-evil-dead-and-jurassic-park-3d-start-strong-in-late-shows/#utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter FRIDAY 11:30 PM, 3RD UPDATE: Sony’s TriStar/FilmDistrict/Ghost House’s newcomer Evil Dead is a #1 lock today with $11.5 million assuming good late shows and as much as $27M for the weekend depending on Saturday’s drop. The ‘C+’ CinemaScore is disappointing for word of mouth. (“Maybe they just grabbed the people running out the door with their hands over their mouths,” joked a studio exec about the horror genre.) Coming in #2 today is Universal’s new conversion of Jurassic Park In 3D with $7M. But it could drop to #4 taking in $18M through Sunday. As for overall moviegoing, the weekend could be as high as $130M which would be +5% from last year. -

Sony’s Tristar/FilmDistrict/Ghost House’s Evil Dead is looking like $13M-$15M today and $27M-$30M for the weekend. Universal’s Jurassic Park 3D targeting $7M today with 45% of its business in IMAX locations. Paramount’s holdover G.I. Joe: Retaliation which was last weekend’s #1 looks down -59% Friday and only -50% for the weekend. -
His Memories of Murder is a really good movie as well.

I think it depends on the movie being re-released in 3D. Jurassic Park is one of the very few old movies that actually works in 3D. The scale of the original movie was epic and there aren't that many movies that can compete with Jurassic Park. -

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/box-office-report-evil-dead-433395 Evil Dead is expected to gross in the $12 million range on Friday, including a healthy $1.8 million in Thursday night shows. The film, costing a modest $17 million to produce, is now expected to hit $25 million in its North American debut for Sony/TriStar, FilmDistrict and Raimi's Ghost House. Jurassic Park 3D is expected to gross in the $7 million range on Friday for a weekend opening nearing $20 million, though 3D rereleases are tricky to model. That would put Spielberg's film in a close race with holdovers The Croods and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
