In PR there was no relationship between the robots and their pilots... and while i guess TF does come somewhat close with the companionship between bumblebee and the protagonist i would say HTTYDs focus is primarily that relationship. And i can see that BH6 might go that route as well

anyways... numbers! or at least movies!

Will be interesting to see WDAS take on this kind of story

yeah hand drawn animation wise Tarzan is probably the peak for WDAS... i am really looking forward to Feast. As far as i know this will also use some rendering techinque mimicking hand drawn (though i suspect that its going in a different direction than paperman)

Just one advice with respect to WDAS marketing material... never trust it... i am pretty sure that in motion the team will have a very different look and feel than what can be inferred from these stills. Anyways with that in mind imo these images already look pretty promising

yeah... he is a little out there (a bit like a character from WoWS...) but as others have noted he is no frozen fan... just a fan of its japanese run. But to his credit i will say that he is very good with numbers and he was actually one of the (if not the) first who realized what kind of potential the japanes run has/had (after the blu ray/dvd release announcement it is probably going to loose some stream... )

the amount of fading to black in these trailers starts to get a little annoying...

I am afraid that google makes this far too easy... but its nice that you got some Princess Bride in there as well and damn... calling this run a rollercoaster is a bit of an understatement!

Since this is the Japan thread: Avatar is not the no1 movie in Japan. It is not even in the top 5 when looking at yen figures! I am not sure how you can come in here and start claiming that Avatar has been such a huge all eclipsing phenomenon in this country... and thats all i am going to say on this topic

Movie starting to slow down a little and predictions get upped by another $50M... i kind of like where this is going

Incredibly weak? I am sorry but this kind of hyperbole just rubs me the wrong way. I can see why old school disney fans get annoyed when people say Frozen is the best thing since sliced bread. I agree, it is not, but this kind of snobby aloofness wrapped into nostalgia can get really tiring. I understand that Frozens themes and imagery did not click with your taste but throwing around absolutes like that is just incredibly pretentious. As for Frollos villain song: yes that is pretty epic, i give you that, but we wont see this kind of visuals again because hand drawn went the way of the dodo (which i am actually also pretty sad about) and because the tone of this movie was all over the place... CG does have a different look and feel but if applied correctly (as is done in Frozen) it can produce some wonderful results. What i will say is that i love animated movies that can get a little darker/mature (Mononoke Hime is among my favourites with respect to that), but most of the time when disney tried going there they failed.

Oh, come on, for you open for interpretation implies bland? Let it go might not be the ultimate pinacle of disney music, but imo it is certainly playing in the same league. Especially when adding the visual element to that comparison.

Granted, in my opinion Princess Mononoke might be more impressive than Frozen... but Howls is just an extremely flawed movie. Visually stunning but otherwise all over the place. I think it got that high on this liste because of SAs success... Regarding SA. Yeah it is a deserving #1 (imo moreso than TS3 being #1 WW) and i guess i will be a little sad when it looses that spot. I think when counting admissions its chances might be better at keeping it.

The way it is currently tracking that might also be a longshot... it will have great legs though

yep... 400M OS would be 100M more than WiR. Also i am not 100% sure the marvel brand will be front and center in the marketing. At least the first teaser did not show the logo at all. I guess if the movie is really good it can do more... but that would probably be primarily on its own merits and not because it is based on a marvel property. I would say they will expect quality family entertainment... irregardless of whether WDAS primarily targets the female or male demographic with their next films. Btw, one thing that actually might help it especially in china now that i think about it is that it has a Robot character

Still a little early to tell for sure... and all i want is for this weekend to stay above $7M. everything else is a bonus
