  1. Speaking as one person who didn't like it, I feel like part of the reason was not only the lack of comedy, but the lack of a good relationship between Hiccup and Toothless (and Astrid) and more focus on the side characters (who were either underdeveloped, annoying, or both), plus the death felt kind of like an unnecessary cop-out, and the action may also have played a part of it for some (though I did like the action sequences). It also doesn't have much rewatchability, unlike, for instance, the first two Shrek films, or HTTYD1, or most Disney and Pixar films. It seems more like one of those films that's like, "It was great when I saw it, but I don't think I'll see it again"—and that point goes for the other markets as well, such as doing well on the first week and then quickly dropping over time. I feel like there are many valid reasons why it underperformed in the U.S., and tapered off in other countries were it did do well. It just didn't have that appeal.
  2. Speaking as a big fan of the first film (which is why I felt especially disappointed with the 2nd), I actually thought that it was going to make $700 million at the least, and possibly a billion, due to all the hype surrounding it. I can understand the work and effort that the team out into it (as with any film, animated or otherwise), so honestly, considering the RT score and how many people on the forum said they loved it, I'm surprised that the film hasn't made more domestically. Especially with not much competition unlike KFP2 (which I honestly liked a good deal better), I figured the profits were going to skyrocket in the U.S., it seemed practically a given, though it seems to be at kind of a stalemate and you don't hear much about it. I'm not saying I don't like the film because it's not Frozen. I just feel like it lost a large part of the charm and magic that the first one had that I enjoyed a lot. Hopefully HTTYD3 will be much better, with the hit they had with the first it deserves to finish off well.
  3. I wouldn't say it deserves to make more. If we were talking the first movie over Frozen, maybe I'd feel it deserves it somewhat (as far as China goes), but I found HTTYD2 to be bland and forgettable. Then again, the Chinese adored TF4 and many people thought it was bad in the U.S., so who knows.
  4. I thought that Lego was CGI that was just made to look like stop-motion, not actually stop-motion.
  5. The trailers had me hyped for it the moment I heard GLaDOS as the AI voice. XD (and the robots and kaiju too)
  6. Yeah, honestly B.O.O. and KFP3 are the only upcoming DW movies I feel really excited for. I may give Captain Underpants a watch though because I liked the books when I was growing up. I feel annoyed that they're making a fourth Madagascar film though, the third was a great conclusion and anything else will feel just tacked-on.
  7. Why is it making so much money in China if it was apparently bad? I don't think it should be even close to a billion.
  8. Amazing movie, definitely an A. The music's great, I love the portrayals, the animation is great (ESPECIALLY the Red Sea and the Burning Bush).
  9. I hope that it doesn't shut down. Kiki's Delivery Service was a major film of my childhood, and I also adore Spirited Away.
  10. The Lion King was also rereleased twice.
  11. I actually love that title way more than HTTYD2. Especially since, as said above, no one's training their dragons in this movie.
  12. I thought the Avatar movies were a trilogy. There's not supposed to be an Avatar 4. Any chance for more Frozen is good in my book.
  13. Yup!. I was born at the end of '91, but I never saw the show until probably 2007 (I didn't know there was one). My childhood shows consisted of Pokemon, Digimon, Sailor Moon, Seasame Street, Rugrats, Slime Time Live, etc. I would have likely loved Goosebumps if I had know there was a show.Oh 90's/early '00's, how I miss you.
  14. I still have a ton of Goosebumps books, and I always liked the Give Yourself Goosebumps ones because I love Choise Your Own Adventure stories.:DOf the main books though, my favorites are Phantom of the Auditorium (HUGE Phantom of the Opera fan so that has a soft spit in my heart), The Ghost Next Door, Ghost Camp, One Day at Horrorland, How I Learned to Fly, Attack of the Mutant, Calling All Creeps, and The Beast From the East.
  15. They have Frozen bread and ice cream?! Well, ice cream I can see, but bread?! Jeez, Frozen really is taking over! And nice to see that its box office is actually still making a decent amount even with the DVD release! Sure, $6 million a week is quite a bit less than $12 million a week, but the fact that it's even getting several million a week even after the DVD announcement/release instead of dropping like stone as it did in America... it's incredible.
  16. Lol, I saw that before on Pintrest. XD
  17. Think it'll break out in Japan anywhere close to how Frozen did?
  18. *says in Kristoff voice* Hang on, you mean to tell me that Frozen SHATTERED all DVD and Blu-Ray sales in Japan THAT DAY?!
  19. Fun fact for you Avatar the Last Airbender fans: That guy narrating in the beginning is Avatar Roku. Hans Westerguard, what are you doing there? Reminds me of how Disney used to sneak things from the First Disney Renaissance films into other First Renaissance films, and Pixar does that too. I'm calling time portal shenanigans.
  20. Pfff, of course I'm talking about the one from BH6, that's why I said "finally". XD The girl from WiR does remind me of me when I was 8 or 10-ish though, but I had darker hair, and both their hair's straighter than mine. When we first saw the movie my sister was even like, "She reminds me of you". XD In terms of personality alongside that little girl liking video games, I'm basically like Anna and Belle... mostly Anna. And I do agree that Elsa is really pretty.
  21. Only problem with that is that Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck aren't making BH6, so saying that wouldn't be true. It;s from the same studio that brought us Frozen, not the creators.
  22. I wonder if he'll sound more like King Candy or the Duke of Weselton in whichever role he's playing. John Ratzenburger has a distinct voice that I can recognize instantly in a Pixar film, but even though King Candy and the Duke have kind of similar voices I didn't know they were both voiced by the same person until I looked at the cast list.
