  1. Say what now US maybe, but WW? It's not even a comparison. And they count on WW grosses. But I want Hunnam back. He nailed the role.
  2. I don't think it was because of the lack of competition. Mortdecai opened the same weeked as BH6, American Sniper, Ubroken and another adult drama. The main reason for it doing well is because Depp is very liked here. He can open strong pretty much any movie. Concerning Seventh Son, it's a medieval fantasy action spectacle. That is the very definition of a successful movie here. The legs are a different problem tho
  3. That is huuge! I can't wait till the tickes go on sale here. I miss following a big box office story.
  4. This is one of the most unbelievable movies I've ever seen. Watched it with my family and it really made me tear up, because it connected on so many levels. Also, it has one of the most amazing soundtracks I've ever heard. The imagery is just beautiful and the movie really makes you care about it's characters. Top 5 all time film. A+
  5. It opened to over 31.500 adm here. Also, Seventh Son opened with 60.700 adm and this market's size is about 1/3 (maybe even 1/4) of the Poland's one. That's why it seemed low
  6. 1. Jupiter Ascending 2. San Andreas 3. Maze Runner 2 4. 50 Shades 5. Spectre 6. Minions 7. Furious 7 8. Tomorrowland 9. In The Heart of the Sea 10. Jurassic World
  7. GotG, American Sniper, Big Hero 6 and The Lego Movie easily come to mind.
  8. But both TH1 and TH2 made more than TA and TH3 made more than the first two in rubles. And even so, TH3 barely made 25M. With last year's rates it would've done over 50. I seriously doubt TA (or any other movie this year for that matter, unless some local title breaks out) touches 30.
  9. Considering this, does any 2015 movie have a REAL chance at making 30M+?
  10. Nah, but it's a princess animation. It is bad by definition. Touche!
  11. Cloud Atlas made your list We have smth in common after all.
  12. WEEKEND BOX OFFICE Great overall weekend, but that's thanks to the big number of openers. - Big Hero 6 debuted on top with 45.184 admissions and $230K. That would usually be a very good start for an animation, but there are some factors that weight in here. First of all, this is NOT a typical 3 day opening. 'Big Hero' had previews since the beginning of the last weekend. And 'previews' might be the wrong word since it had so many shows I initially thought I got the release date wrong. So we have a 10 day opening and in that context, the OW is not that great (as a comparison, 'The Penguins of Madagascar' made 54.156 adm in just 3 days). The number becomes even less impressive when you conider 'Big Hero 6' has THE WIDEST RELEASE for any movie ever, by far, on 108 screens!! The previous record was held by 'The Hobbit 2 and 3 with 99 screens. And of course, there's the marketing campaign. I've never seen so much marketing for a movie. Ever. Countless spots on TV, banners, subway posters and of course, there was the fact that the main theatre chain's site was a 'Big Hero' dedicated fanpage Besically you couldn't buy any tickets without watching a BH6 trailer and there were ads popping up for it on every page. All in all, it's a decent opening at best and considering BH6 made that in 10 days and it will have animated competition in the next two weekends, expect for it to fade fast. The WOM seems good, like it is for any Disney animation, but that doesn't stop the movies from bombing. In the last years, the only Disney/Pixar animations that had some succes were the princess movies ('Tangled', 'Brave', 'Frozen'). So in that context, 'Big Hero 6' is actually above expectations. - In second, Mortdecai started with a strong 31.586 admissions and $150K. That is great considering that, aside from a few last day TV spots I haven't seen promotion for it. But it is not surprising. Johnny Depp is probably one of the most reliable draws around and especially the under 25 crowd (which is the main audience for movies here) seems to love him. The number is about on par with 'Horrible Bosses 2' a few months back, which means 'Mortdecai' will likely end above $500K, an excellent result for it. - American Sniper debuted with 27.407 admissions and $138K. That is a nice number for it and the WOM seems strong (as is the controversy). - In face of heavy competition, Taken 3 fell 63%. Still, total stands at a strong $866K and $1M will happen. - Unbroken failed to impress with a weak 12.931 admissions and $61K, - Seventh Son and The Hobbit both had good drops. Totals are $753K and $2.9M. - Blackhat, The Water Diviner and Birdman all dropped ugly. - Mommy debuted outside Top 10 with a middling 1.707 adm from 10 screens. Top 10 Next week's openers: - The Imitation Game - The Wedding Ringer - Wild Card - Yellowbird (animation) I could be wrong, but I see all titles opening above 10.000 admissions.
  13. The fact that this will make 400M is hust insane. It will be WB's biggest hit ever aside from the two TDK movies. Could it have a chance at overtaking TDKR's 448m? Also, the international numbers for this seem to be strong. I expect it to do over 200M OS. It is opening here this weekend and it looks very busy. So 600M+ WW. I think it has a legit chance at overtaking Interstellar WW
  14. Maybe he would but I still bet he'll get an insane amount of monet for POTC 5. That's a territory where he can ask for 50M+ paychecks and Disney will give them to him.
  15. Depp is an excellent actor. He just has to choose his roles better.
  16. Ok, I tried to ignore the crazy talk in the last couple of days, but IF it makes 70M+ this weekend would 400M become a posibility?
