  1. FWIW Barbarian had some pretty healthy increases at pretty much every theatre I track from true Friday (and at least half were over Thurs+Fri combined). Wouldn't be surprised with a Saturday 3-3.5M.
  2. My (relatively small? 30-people) audience seemed to really enjoy the first two acts of Barbarian. But, like me, they weren't very big fans of the last act.
  3. It won’t (shut them up I mean). I remember rooting for Ghostbusters 2016, Oceans 8, etc. and yea none of that worked.
  4. I think this can pull Aladdin numbers. Trailer looks good (minus some of the CG) and people are going to go crazy for it next summer. I don't know if BatB is reachable though, that truly felt like peak hype for these live action remakes.
  5. Yea, the same way Hereditary got a D+ cinemascore and then DIDN'T become a modern horror classic. (no, really, not just the A24 buffs, but pretty much everyone I talk to who has seen Hereditary (and likes horror ofc) loves it)
  6. It’s not like this is a Master Of Disguise level terrible (at least as far as early reviews indicate). Wilde will be fine.
  7. Close enough to 900k. But depending how much those Wednesday shows account for, I think double digits may be in jeopardy.
  8. Barbarian actually looking... decent(?) tonight. Nothing spectacular obviously, but at this point it's pretty much guaranteed to open above Malignant, which was where I had the bar for success a few weeks ago. Something like 0.9-1M previews would be pretty solid for it.
  9. I’ll say that Canada has to stop trying to compare itself to/compete with America. But Canada is hands-down better in nearly every way. Anyone who thinks otherwise...
  10. That's okay, we're at the point in the world where the USA doesn't care about the rest of the world, and the rest of the world doesn't care about the USA :pp
  11. Showtimes were up for this next Thursday, pretty wide release, it was playing in most markets I was looking at. But this morning, every single showtime has been pulled. I don’t see it listed anywhere (BC, Canada). This isn’t going to be another Moonfall situation, is it?
  12. I don’t know what’s more impressive in hindsight, that we had a Spiderman movie gross ~820 million domestically, or a Top Gun movie gross ~720 million domestically.
  13. I second Charlie. At least in Canada, far and away the strongest day attendance-wise post COVID. I may be wrong, and if anyone has stats to disprove me, but it may be best attendance here since... Endgame OW? Lion King and Rise of Skywalker are close, but even if one of their days are ahead of today attendance-wise, it's CLOSE.
  14. Going to open lower than X imo, which sucks because it looks great, and X itself was pretty great.
  15. I’m excited. So out of the festival premieres so far (this, Bardo, White Noise, Tar) it seems like this and Tar are so far on top? Am I missing any others?
  16. I’m hearing from people who still work at theatres that payroll budgets haven’t increased for tomorrow, so a lot of locations are being staffed as if it’s a regular Saturday on Labor Day weekend. Incompetent if you ask me.
  17. The $3 Saturday is REALLY boosting ticket sales, far more than even I would have predicted. Enough that I do think there will be a significant Saturday bump across the board this weekend, even if you take into account the cheaper tickets.

  19. Yea I saw some comments about the real history this movie is based off of and... yea the history buff in me goes “eeeek yea that’s rough”. But as a movie it looks entertaining as hell. I guess same with Braveheart lol.
  20. Someone on tik tok suggested Kevin Hart for Bond lmao
  21. Let’s all be fair, yea I hate that this is day-and-date too. But we all thought it would doom kills, and that piece of garbage still managed to open to 50 million dollars lol.
  22. I'm honestly really confident in this. Got the trailer at my 6th showing (lol) of Maverick last night, and honestly it plays really really well. While I definitely overpredicted Marvel's other 2 releases this year, I do have a pretty good feeling about this. I do think it will decrease from the first, even with ticket-price inflation, but 550-600 domestic wouldn't surprise me at all. Especially given how barren the release schedule is between now and Nov 11.
