  1. Fun fact: there hasn't been a holiday release movie with as bad legs as The Last Jedi, since Exodus Gods and Kings.
  2. I said of a serious budget & NOT made to appeal to children.
  3. I agree. Wonder Woman has very nice legs. They are the best bit about her.
  4. and Paddington 2 making equivalent of ~ $350-400M.
  5. Don't really have anything I'm excited for. Duncan Jones has a new movie, as does Richard Linklater (when was the last year he didn't release a movie?), neither of which I know anything about but I look forward to regardless. Err... there's a new Jack Black movie out next week on netflix and I love Jack Black. Struggling to think of anything else...
  6. I think the point is more people were surprised by just how many people were interested in It, e.g. trailer views. No the run was not a surprise as much once it was actually being released but it was still a proper surprise.
  7. Can you add Jumanji to the list? (It gets my vote though. I remember predicting a 20/50 run. I was wrong.)
  8. But it's similar to Sherlock Holmes which went against Avatar and reached 200M.
  9. there is a list of predictions here. @MovieMan89 and @TStechnij went for 1B shortly before release, and @CJohn predicted 1B from the start
  10. ...which is 218M in todays money, similar to Justice League. Not bad.
  11. Speak for yourself. SOME OF US were wise and could see it coming. (hint - me)
  12. How much do you anticipate Black Panther doing? Join me. S
  13. The Clone Wars is a big step up from the prequels and really fleshes out and explores the fall of Anakin, as well as it just being really good fun and engaging with all kinds of storylines brought up. I really recommend it to anyone who found the prequels disappointing... so don't be put off by this "film" if you can even call it that.
  14. I don't actually think James Franco's impression / impersonation is particularly accurate, he exaggerates a lot of it and I'm not really sure why. When people say he "IS" Tommy, I just can't see it. That being said, whoever he becomes, he does become someone. You completely forget it's James Franco to the point where Tommy and Greg are speaking and you always see them as the characters, not brothers. To put two brothers who look like each other as the lead characters, I thought would be risky, but James makes you completely forget about it. He is mightily impressive. I still can't figure out why Dave Franco is a thing, though. He is just a presence... watch his interviews and his movies and see if you can tell a difference. He just reads his lines off. He's not terrible but he can't play a character other than himself. He has no talent.
  15. Really enjoyed it at the time, can't remember much at all from it now though. Definitely weaker than Hell or High Water, dialogue was quite clunky and I didn't think Elizabeth Olsen was anything special. Good shoot out but the story really didn't have as much meaning as the filmmakers clearly wanted. I agree with the notion mentioned above about the line at the end - the film was decent but I didn't feel it was ever trying to make a point about its subject matter. I am a sucker for anything that's quiet and set in snow though.
  16. I don't know anything about Barnum so how true this movie was doesn't really matter to me. That being said, I wasn't really invested in the characters or anything else really. The choreography is good and a few of the numbers are good on both the eyes and the ears. I definitely enjoyed it and I had a smile on my face, but I have no reason to listen to the songs afterwards.
  17. from theatrical revenue, I can't see how it would have made money. But it also sells toys, plus ancillaries and home media etc I'm sure it will make its money back somewhere along the line.
  18. Loved it, not gonna write up much but I thought nearly everything was terrific. Frances McDormand was every bit as good as I had heard, but Sam Rockwell just stunned me. I'm a big fan of his but it still surprised me, he is just fantastic. My only niggle is, why was the "rapist" in the shop taunting Mildred and then in the bar bragging if he didn't do it? What is the point of that? just confused me. I feel I would have preferred for the movie to end in the bar, as the Sheriff wrote to Mildred "maybe some guy overhears another guy in a bar one night bragging about it" I mean I love the fact that they go out to kill someone they think deserves it anyway, knowing it isn't the killer - that works really well. But I don't see why that guy had to show up and confront mildred if he had nothing to do with it. Also I just looked on a map, and Idaho is nowhere near Missouri, why the smeg would he be in Ebbing? rules out the idea of him being a disgruntled local / friend of Willoughby.
  19. - The "family market" still has Jumanji - the first Paddington had equally strong reception
  20. But one thing no one thought about, was the ship will rise again, just like the phoenix. Will fucking riiiiiiise agaaaiin.
  21. I don't remember this. to quote James Franco's Wiseau, "what is line?"
  22. how can that be? humans naturally float in water because, we are lighter than water. so if you sit on a piece of wood you will float on top of the wood and stay out of the water.
  23. No, they don't, actually. Disney film with serious budgets that weren't made to sell toys are few and far between. The last time was two years ago - The Finest Hours Before that would be Saving Mr Banks, in 2013, which funnily enough was literally a film about how great Walt Disney is
