Dammit. Why man why?! Please leave this movie alone. Your support = death for this movie commercially and possibly critically. Mad Max survived critically but let's face it, it was a commercial disappointment considering the excellent marketing and so much buzz. Casual audience didn't care too much about it.

I heard the budget is 120 million. Not sure if it is pre or post tax credits. -

It should. But will Fox's marketing team be able to make it a must watch movie for casual moviegoers next summer. -

Sure. But do they have any sustainable long running franchise. Making a big hit like Martian or Revenant won't cut it. Because they are one and done thing. -

Star Trek doing decent. But was hoping for a surprise 80+ launch. Paramount kinda dropped the ball. Didn't feel like they promoted it heavily enough or reminded everyone of the 50th anniversary. -

Loving the epic floppage that is IA5. All of Fox's franchises have flopped or disappointed this year. IA5 is the end of their only cash cow franchise. Xmen is on shaky grounds. ID2 was a miserable turkey. They are left with only Deadpool/xforce, POTA and avatar. Not too sure if Kingsman2 will be as successful as first one. To me it screams another Maze Runner 2/NYSM2 at the box-office. POTA will end soon and I have a feeling next one will do less than previous one globally. Avatar 2 is my most anticipated film of 2018 or 19 or whenever it comes out, but it is guaranteed to see a drop. If Fox is lazy with its marketing and hoping on coasting on the wom of previous film on all their upcoming sequels then they are in for a rude shock. That's not how things work nowadays. Times have changed. -
Disney's Pete's Dragon | August 12, 2016

Good to know that this movie is getting great reviews. Will do 450+ world wide, if Disney pushes the movie more. -
I am really looking forward to this, moreso than other summer movies in 2017, but I am afraid that it won't get proper marketing and release. Really hoping one of the big studios strike a deal for distribution and marketing in North America, Latin America, some European and Asian markets. I guess the lack of a star in the movie is why no big North American studio is willing to distribute it. This movie needs to be successful if we want more inventive, visually unique and stunning sci-fi space epics not called star wars, star trek or related to a brand name, gotg (marvel). It's hard to make something not based on a well known IP/brand into an event. But really rooting for Luc Lesson and entire Valerian team.

My most anticipated movie of 2016. I was gutted when 2005 King Kong underperformed at the box-office because I loved that movie so much. It was excessive but boy it was delicious. Hoping this isn't anything like Godzilla 2014, a boring ass and overrated movie, which wouldn't have done the numbers it did if it wasn't for the amazing marketing campaign and some cool shots.

LOVING | 11.04.16 | Universal | final gross ● 7.71 M

This has OSCARS written all over it. Best actress looking good. -
Just want to say that I am so happy for Illumination's success. Making movies on under 100 million budget and delivering uber blockbuster profits that even Pixar/WDA would be jealous of. Chris Meledandri, the owner of Illumination Animation, was let go by Fox. Once again, this shows the incompetence of Fox. They could have had these big hits, but lack of vision and eye for UBER blockbuster successes is the reason why their animation division is also grossly under performing. With Ice Age 5 all set to gross under 100 million domestic and dropping hard even internationally, they will be left with no cash cow animation franchise. All their other outputs haven't delivered big time at the boxoffice even with good reviews. Won't be surprised if Blue-Sky closes down one day. If any Fox employee/exec reads these threads, all I want to say is HAHAHA. Serves you right.

Raaes was done filming a while ago, but has been delayed a few times. Heard that they are doing reshoots. Watched Sultan. First half is great. Then 30-35 mins of 2nd half is solid. And then the last 45 mins or so was ripoff of Brothers and not that engaging. Piracy and mixed wom will prevent this from reaching the heights of Bajrangi Bhaijan. Infact, it opened lower than Prem Ratan Dhan Payo on first day! Still expecting it to gross more than that movie otherwise would be considered a box-office disappointment.

Miss Peregrine looks good, but I don't think they will be able to open it to a good number. If it is a good movie and they start screening it early to get the buzz out like Kingsman or Maze Runner 1 then and maybe it gets a 30+ opening weekend alongwith solid legs to take it to 100 million domestic. Hopefully, 200+ overseas too. But i doubt it. Outside of Revenant and Deadpool, they have had a shitty year. And that won't change until Why Him?
