  1. Even $25m would be a stretch. With a $4m Th, it needs to surpass former friday jumps by a great margin. It was pretty consisatnt the last WEs in terms of Fr/Sat Jumps, so even giving it generous +65% on Friday and +50% on Saturday and only a drop of 20% on sunday, it won't get to $25m.
  2. Sounds good. Let's hope, it performs like some of those underestimated PG-13-Horrormovies like Truth or Dare and stuff.
  3. This looks like "Get Out" meets "Hunger Games" with Magot Robbie, who's actually not in the movie.
  4. This is a tough one. With the material, it should be centered at the Goosebumps-Crowd, but from the trailers, it's very dark and somehow misses the target. Also, seems to be opening in only 2400 theaters. Seems not very confident and to be honest, it's a stupid move to open two adaptations centered at kids/younger teens the same weekend, when July was desertet.
  5. With getting older, you get more critical. I thing viewers grew with Tarantino, I don't think, that he could win over new generations like he was able to in the 90s. Generations move on.
  6. I miss that feeling of wonder even the cheapest of the cheapest movies gave me as a kid. Even after watching them for the 20th time.
  7. It's their job as Filmmakers to know what we want. It obviously wasn't this. Maybe it's impossible to adapt this, who knows, but maybe Hooper and his team just failed horribly.
  8. I actually can't believe, that this is the moment in history where we look back at Hermione Granger as a cat and think: Well done, Chris Columbus. Seriously, it's not amazing, but that's a creation I can buy within human understanding. What Hooper created is just wrong. It just can't be and so our brains can't handle it. It's like those strange camera angles for CG-Shots theat make movis look so unrealistic nowadays. Sometimes these things at least look great on a technical standpoint, but those catws-faces didn't even maage to look technically well done. It's a disaster from the beginning to the end.
  9. I seriously hate the idea to cast a black actress as Ariel. Not because i'm racist, no. It's more of the opposite. What is the message here? The message is, that she and her skin colour are degraded to be a gimmick. As so often in life, even in our oh so progressive society, a black person only gets what's left over by white people. A role of a red haired white princess , generously handed to a black actress...by white people. Hollywood, wake up. get behind your desks and write original movies and roles and then cast people of all skin colours naturally and because of their talent. Make those roles theirs from the beginning. The past has happend, we can't make up for it being all white. But we can create a future, where colour doesn't matter anymore. What we don't need ist more black actors playing more black roles (Don't get me wrong, there is still more room for movies race plays an important role. But those movies at least got considered to be made more often recently already ) What we need is stories where those Katniss Everdeens, those Owen Gradys just happen to be black. There is no reason why they couldn't be. When somebody aks, why they are black, the answer should be: Why not? There's no answer to that.
  10. For the moment this is a good laugh, but i'm seriously concerned. The medium cinema has a very tough time and in some cases is fighting for life support. I'm so mad at Universal for ruining the reputation of this great medium even more with such a monstrosity.
  11. I'm just trying to imagine the scenario, where high profile film makers sit together in the cutting room, watching this trailer and shaking hands afterwards for the great work they achieved. I mean, seriously, there should have been at least somebody being able to stop this. They should have known, that this won't pass the public opinion. In some shots, the CGI'd faces are literally swimming on the heads, especially when shot from the side. This is so weird, I can't believe they made this monstrosity public.
  12. I really think it looks great but i'm afraid, that trailer might be to artsy for a broader appeal.
  13. Paramount should have pushed this one way harder. They completely dropped the ball and now they are sitting on a 100% RT Horrormovie nobody knows is coming out. This could have been a chance for them.
  14. What a shame this one went completely under the radar. It was full of great chemistry, likeable characters and hilarious comedy. It's what a Pretty Woman-Move should have looked in 2019. I reeally hope it does good business in HV. This movie should be seen. It's here to make you feel good. Grab that chance! 8/10
  15. They should at least have done some cheap viral marketing. Could have done some videos with suspicious aligator activity in Florida. Some made up news videos and stuff. Little things, that might generate awareness.
  16. Any Idea why the Studio compeltely dropped the ball after a pretty good trailer? I know, it's Paramount, but really, this got great trailer reactions and a lot of clicks but since then: Nothing. No second trailer, no marketing push, it's as if it wasn't opening. I originally thought, this might pull a mini-Meg and open in the Mid 20s, but well, if the studio doesn't care...
  17. More of a second teaser, but hell, it's another gigantic effort in terms of pushing the right buttons.
  18. Is there any hope that the $2,3m number for Pets is excluding the early access screenings? If not, this looks very bad, as HT3 had $3,9m if yxou include those $1,25m from Prime Previews.
  19. If youtake a closer look, the problem, once again, are male reviewers. Those few women critics rating the movie pretty much all liked it. So why the hell are they, again and again, sending men to watch a movie, that is targeting women? That's why I hate RT. It might have been the reason, womens movies got killed off at the BO. Even the incredible "About time" is only at 69% with a 6.4 rating. So I think this movie is just doing fine with early previews-
  20. It surely helped the first one, that opened close after Finding Dorie. But maybe "after" is the point here, maybe those trailers seen by millions of families gave it a last push, while this year, there wasn't a single classic family movie so far.
  21. I don't know, seems like there hasn't been any big effort so far marketing the movie. It has very decent Trailer Views, but I would assume, that big parts of those clicks come from the UK and Australia.
  22. Are they even going to release this properly in the US or are they going the "About Time"-Path?
  23. I thought this might become a little breakout for this summer, but 2 weeks before release, there's still no buzz at all.
