    Yeah I like the general idea, but if I have to listen to that the entire time...I'll wait until I can mute it. Would have been impressive if they had eschewed it and did a lot more visual humor and subtitles.

    I remember Encanto losing the Annie but winning the Oscar, so make of that what you will.

    I'm surprised they didn't give it to Nimona simply because of it's narrative (from humble beginnings on tumblr, to a graphic novel, to being shoved around, cancelled, rebought, finished, etc). Well I can rest easy know Robot Dreams got at least best Independent. I still think Across was too cluttered in an attempt to be ~complete and not get people too mad about a sequel hook.

    I've never finished the book or seen the play, my guess is they're cutting her songs or just tolerating a few lines.

    I knew she was in TV/movies (She was in the last season of Legend of Korra) but I did not know until yesterday she directed Lisa Frankenstein. was Turning Red considered a wide release or a one-week or so engagement? We got it at one of our 3 theaters, but the furthest one away. Sorry, but I wasn't going to drive that long for something I can watch at home. If it was local, I would have splurged the 8$.

    It wouldn't be cost-effective to release themselves, but they won't show it to increase hype or let other studios bid more than once? They didn't want this sold period. Would it have cost money to screen at SXSW? Yeah, but there would have been a ROI on it to entice other studios.

    My thought is that it would actually move up in 2024. More of a hunch, but I can't imagine where. Summer would have been good if IO2 wasn't there.

    Ooh, this is pretty close to Wicked isn't it. I'll be there for both (I love a bad live action musical), but there will be a clash if it doesnt move.
