  1. I don't know why people are acting like the plot of this is so difficult to figure out. It sounds essentially like Enchanted but with Barbie instead of a Disney princess
  2. I thought she was pretty bland in Normal People honestly. She's one of those Carey Mulligan-esque actresses that just have no vibe
  3. Can safely say I was the only person under 40 at my screening. As for the movie, I guess I didn’t hate it, but it was very uneven. I’ll be the only Butler atheist here and say that he was good but it wasn’t anything you won’t see from any half decent Vegas impersonator. It didn’t seem like he tried to get to the real man behind “Elvis” at any point.
  4. Gemma Chan and JDW gave two of the most wooden performances in recent memory in Eternals and Tenet so not feeling great about this one?
  5. I think it will be lucky to do half that. Wonder how it will perform overseas - I don't think Elvis is as prominent overseas as Queen or Elton John.
  6. Australia cost $130m?? As one of six people who saw that movie, what on earth did he spend it on???
  7. Curious to see what Cruise does post TG and MI movies. Hope he doesn't go back to doing generic crap like Jack Reacher or The Mummy or whatever. He's a really underrated dramatic actor, I'd love to see him in a non-action role again
  8. Have they announced a sequel yet? I will say that Uncharted has pretty much done what it was supposed to for Holland (proved hes a box office draw without Spiderman). Filming two franchises isn’t going to leave him much time to do other (more creative) things if he signs on for Spidey 4 plus Uncharted 2
  9. Not often you hear of a complete unknown (who's not a child) who's headlining a franchise film. I'm guessing the female lead will be a known name then?
  10. The plot for this movie sounds interesting but also really tricky to translate on screen
  11. Yeah Cumberbatch is obviously a phenomenal actor but he just doesn't have RDJ's movie star wattage. I feel like superhero movies don't necessarily need a good actor as much as they need someone with charisma. It's why Christian Bale isn't really a good Batman - he's an actor not a movie star. Same with Brie Larson. Rarely will you get someone who is a great actor and a movie star (RDJ). Occasionally you will get someone who is neither (Simu Liu)
  12. I think Wandavision being essentially a four-hour character study really helped people invest in her character, but it remains to be seen if that can be carried forward into film. Fans certainly like her far more than Strange though, which kind of speaks to the problem I'm talking about.
  13. I really liked him in IW and NWH (especially the scene where he says goodbye to Peter), but he was flat on his own in MoM. I've seen people say he'll be the new lead for the Avengers now that Iron Man is gone but I just don't see it. I don't see fans that invested in him. He'll probably be the key plot driver for the Avengers moving forward, but the heart is just not there.
  14. This is really based on nothing more than anecdotal experience, but this new batch of Marvel leads hasn't really engaged the fans like the OG Avengers did. Iron Man and Cap were beloved. Captain Marvel, Strange, Ant-man and Shang-chi (not to mention Eternals) just haven't been met with the same affection IMO, even if they did strong BO numbers. T'Challa and Spidey are the exceptions but Chadwick's gone. I don't know if it's a casting thing or a reflection of the movies, but I think they need to be very careful about the F4 movie. They can't rely on Spidey alone to be the heart of the MCU.
  15. It's obviously not reflected in BO numbers, but I think the proliferation of Marvel shows plus formulaic movies is leading to some Marvel fatigue and backlash. They have some real quality control issues to start thinking about IMO.
