  1. WB knew they were cutting off families with the runtime and the product. I’m just surprised they couldn’t make up for that elsewhere with adults Pattinson should be a much bigger draw than an 18 year old Holland who had 5 mins of screen time in Civil War c’mon
  2. I dismissed suggestions of that before this, but I think that has to be seriously considered. I can’t think of many other reasons this would underperform. I just thought its strengths would overcome it - recognizable star, strong reviews, strong P&A, barren marketplace It’s also been almost five years since Justice League and at least personally, it feels much longer with the pandemic and everything since. Homecoming came out barely three years after TASM2 which had performed much worse than the Snyder Batman movies did at the BO. And its star was a complete unknown (even if Iron Man was in it)
  3. The climate was so ripe for Batman to break out. It should not be opening below Deadpool, an R-rated movie of a B-list superhero. It’s fucking Batman! You would be hard pressed to name stronger IP.
  4. Sony could pick up the marketing if they wanted $800m. Where's the Hollywood Reporter cover with the 3 Spideys? Where's the three of them on Kimmel?
  5. That's a good number for Batman, but not like out of this world. It's Batman. It was never going to fail. I really thought the dearth of programming since NWH meant ppl would be starved for new movies and it would open close to $200m. Guess not.
  6. I rewatched Titanic recently for the first time in like 15 years and I must say, I do understand its crazy numbers and legs. The movie is insanely watchable.
  7. This is ridic lol. They need to start excluding these numbers in the official weekend count because 6 days is not a weekend. They think they can juice these numbers and we won't notice if it flops
  8. Batman Begins was so boring. TDKR was ass too. Nolan’s trilogy only had one good movie and that’s my galaxy brain take
  9. There was a real gender split with reactions from people I went with. Men loved it, women were a lot more meh. Lot of complaining about how dark (visually) it was. I thought it was good but I don't know if I really feel like watching it again. Felt the script could've been a lot tighter. There was a good 30 min in there that wasn't necessary.
  10. I think Batman as IP is too big to fail - I don’t buy the $100m predictions. Pattinson is a big name, it’s a brand new director and a brand new universe, trailers have been received well - I don’t see any reason Snyderverse reception should deter people
  11. This number means next to nothing - of course Batman’s biggest fans are the first to snatch up early tickets to see it.
  12. Variety says it only cost $90m so it should be there domestically before the weekend
  13. This looks fun and if it succeeds, it will prove The Movie Star isn’t dead.
  14. I'm going to say under $40m OW because statistically speaking, Sony's hot streak has to come to an end sometime.
  15. $200m budget sounds about right. $100m always sounded ridiculous given the scale of the trailers
  16. Hmmm didn’t know that about Sonic, you could be right
  17. That seems waaaay too high for a 6m Friday? Could be under 20m 2nd weekend.
  18. 15-25 for Lost City seems on the low end? Hope it can pick up. Anyone have any idea about the budget? Bullock and Pitt don't come cheap.
  19. Stories like this are so vital for Ukrainian morale. As effective as any propaganda
  20. Box Office Pro's forecast hasn't been all that accurate in pandemic times IMO, I wouldn't be worried
  21. I saw this and I thought it was really dull lol, although the bungled release strategy can't have helped. Can't wait for Joe Wright to get back in his Atonement era.
  22. This is extremely ?????? given everything that's going on there
  23. That’s a good point. Wikipedia says this shot from September to December 2019, so COVID didn’t stop them from shooting on location
