The winner is 100% Solo. Nobody expected Solo to bomb so hard that it couldn't even make 400M WW. People expected it to be the lowest grossing of Disney wars, but nobody went this low with predictions (I think that 700M was the lowest). It's funny that this winner super bomb Solo and runner up super bomb Pacific Rim 2 weren't in the poll. OTOH, shocking hit The Meg and shouldn't-have-surprised-anyone-cause-popular-character Venom are. AWIT bomb shouldn't have been a surprise cause it was Oprah's vanity project based on a YA book and YA sub-genre is dead. Ditto Mortal Engines. Another expensive attempt to resurrect that fad sub-genre that need not be resurrected. Bomb incoming. so I'd rank them: Solo - the Winner PRU - First Runner Up AWIT - Second Runner Up

Considering ridiculous 50M paychecks collected by RDJ (MCU), Depp (POTC) and Craig (Bond), 15M is perfectly reasonable.

I don't think competence is a problem here but more of SS situation - the studio doens't know what they want from this movie. SH? Horror? Mix? I remember that SS's problem was that Ayer wanted one tone and WB wanted GOTG tone and the hybrid sucked ass. Either way, this thing is gonna be lucky to make 300M WW. There's no way it has a WOM that pushes it to 300M dom and comparison to IT is laughable. IT is iconic. These people are obscure and this is not MCU whose brand is strong enough to turn most obscure characters into decent hits (Ant Man, wasp) or mega hits (GOTG). On top of that, it's getting released on the same day with Hobbs&Shaw and some other things. It'll be lucky to be #2 for that weekend before it falls off the cliff.

tbh, this looks generic. Kids wear animal face masks like any villain in any home invasion movie. That's a movie addition, none of that creepy cult shit is in the book. LOl, this must be the most anti-climactic thing ever. Everyone and their mother predicted that he would go on to SS 2. WB wanted first SS to be their GOTG, so this was the most expected thing ever. Super thrilled for it now and hopefully collaboration works to everyone's benefit. We need a great SS movie. Such a great cast, so much potential.
