The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo
Menor the Destroyer replied to grim22's topic in Numbers and Data
I will update at my usual time. There are not that many tickets sold at this time to update multiple times during the day. -

Eternals Thursday: Showtimes: 2026 (+9) Seats Sold: 43202/326285 (+1879) $ Sales: 598749 (+25243) Friday: Showtimes: 3796 (+8) Seats Sold: 36320/631299 (+2335) $ Sales: 473318 (+29127) No bump, though I did take it slightly early. -
most disappointing performances for a sequel?
Menor the Destroyer replied to John Marston's topic in Classic Box Office Runs
Most of the answers in here are kinda weird and are putting mild disappointments or "great but not as great as they could have been" performances up there with genuine disasters. Frozen 2 really? Alice Through the Looking Glass has to be up here I suppose, though wasn't on the forums to know what the expectations were, but a sequel to a billion dollar movie doing only 300 mil has to be a disappointment. Lego Movie 2 also had a disastrous drop from the first. As far as answers on here already I do agree with BvS and War for Planet. -
I know Feige is saying don't raise expectations and all that, but really, if you're going to bring back villains from the old films, I don't see why you wouldn't bring back the heroes. I honestly find the prospect of Holland, Garfield, and Maguire teaming up to be much more exciting than just facing off against old villains.

Thursday: Showtimes: 2017 (+49) Seats Sold: 41323 (+1781) (ugh) $ Sales: 573506 (+25047) Friday: Showtimes: 3788 (+68) Seats Sold: 33985/630374 (+2401) $ Sales: 444191 (+29239) Blech pace for Thursday, Friday is sort of ok I suppose but still not that good. BW comp will be back tomorrow onwards. -

Friday Showtimes: 2218 Seats Sold: 57834/296669 (+14663) $ Sales: 723020 (+158949) Not much walkups as expected. Especially subbed showings added barely anything today. Guess it will final at maybe low 60s/770-790k. Saturday Showtimes: 2327 (+29) Seats Sold: 26211/312575 (+3400) $ Sales: 313282 (+29037) Definitely looking like a hefty Sat drop. Eternals later tonight probably. -

Anyway data from yesterday (it differs from where Keyser had it but not significantly): Eternals MTC2 Thursday: Showtimes: 1968 (+1) Seats Sold: 39442/319863 (+4574) $ Sales: 548459 (+53621) Friday: Showtimes: 3720 Seats Sold: 31584/620839 (+4900) $ Sales: 413952 (+56876) 2 days and a few hours of data. Not as awful as I was thinking at first but still way behind BW. I don't have exact comps for today but Thursday pace around 60% of BW and Friday pace probably 65-70%. -

It's pace did not increase at all from last week. That trend is beyond disastrous so I can definitely see it plunging in the final week (relative to others). But more likely in line with your prediction. -

I think I am not getting all of the shows. I get only 1968 shows and 39442 for previews. Maybe I need to double check something in my show counter. -

Finally fixed my MTC2 error. MHA MTC2 Friday Showtimes: 2218 (+175) Seats Sold: 43171/296669 (+7758) $ Sales: 564071 (+72300) Saturday Showtimes: 2298 Seats Sold: 22811/310408 $ Sales: 283245 For space, leaving out dubbed/subbed, if anyone is particularly interested I can post it later. I started an Eternals run, will post tomorrow morning so I can sleep early tonight. -

I will give it another try before going that route. I have gotten this type of error on shows before but usually just one or two, now it's a decent portion. But I'm running Eternals now and it looks fine so far. Also doing some debugging to make sure it isn't something on my end. -

Was still having some issues. Trying again tonight. Nah, Eternals was tracking way higher than SC before the awful review "bump" and the middling days that have followed. If the reviews were par SC, I would be willing to bet that it would look a lot better right now. "Worst reviews in the franchise" isn't a headline any movie wants to have, especially one that was specifically marketed on quality. -

Getting some weird errors with shows (just a fraction of them but enough to mess with pace comps) not returning data. Will give it until tomorrow morning, hopefully it's some website error by MTC2 that resolves by then, and I can give reliable numbers. -

BW, not Venom. BW had matinees in the summer.
