  1. I would view "just alright" as a really positive result at this stage. Right now it's looking at an awful performance.
  2. Yeah but BW was so much higher in presales that it's difficult to compare. I also thought before presales for TSS started that it would be a good comp but TSS numbers are just too low.
  3. Since Keyser is taking a break I will post some MTC2 numbers. There was an issue with calculating the daily pace for BW but I think the overall number shouldn't be that off so it should give a decent indicator. The Suicide Squad Thursday Showtimes: 1385 Seats Sold: 3729/221483 ~0.136x Black Widow's Day 6 total (1.79 million) Friday: Showtimes: 3215 Seats Sold: 2720/526594 ~0.182x Black Widow's Day 6 total (4.79 million) The Black Widow number is extrapolated, I took Day 5 and Day 7 but not Day 6, but it won't be far off the real number. Either way the numbers are extremely low. Obviously Black Widow is not the best comp but even the Th/Fri ratio looks decently frontloaded (not as much as BW but definitely more so than F9).
  4. TSS numbers look disastrous. I'm not sure even a review boost can save them.
  5. I liked this episode a lot. Really well directed and visually beautiful. The character interactions were all really well-done and the action was really fun as well.
  6. If SJ2 goes as low as they say then BW will win the weekend for sure. I just think Space Jam is going higher than that.
  7. Black Widow was so frontloaded during the weekend that even with the decent weekday holds it's going to take a huge second weekend drop. Space Jam is definitely favored to win the weekend.
  8. I liked the finale, timeline stuff didn't make much sense but this show was pretty entertaining and probably my favorite of the 3 so far.
  9. Weekday numbers seem fine to me. Tuesday boosts have been weak this year so the comparison to Ant-Man makes no sense.
  10. Good. There was never any need for it anyway. Extra innings were fine like they were.
  11. Yeah, I'm surprised episode 15 didn't get more of these nominations. For me it was the best episode of the season in the writing, performances, and visually (tied with 13 and 9 on that last one).
  12. What an absolutely beautiful trilogy this was. I had some quibbles with the adaptations of certain things but in a broad sense these are such great films.
  13. TCW is a different animal entirely but I do think there is a difference between this show's approach and Rebels in a way that goes beyond just taste. For example, in Rebels S1, there were a lot of episodes where the team was split up and that allowed a greater focus on specific characters (Zeb and Ezra stealing the fruit, Hera and Sabine on the wildcat planet, Kanan and Ezra also on the wildcat planet). I really liked those episodes and they made me more invested in the show. In Bad Batch, there are a lot fewer moments like that. I think Episode 3 is easily my favorite of the "normal" episodes (excluding 1 and 8, since those were the premiere and midseason finale and so were packed with climactic moments) because it was closer in structure to this. Hunter and Omega got a nice subplot learning to work together, and it was contrasted really well with Crosshair's development. There was an appropriate level of focus on the individual characters. Contrasting that to something like Episode 10, Omega had a nice subplot but the mission on Raxus felt pretty much irrelevant to any of the characters involved. Even though Echo and Wrecker were suspicious of the Separatists, there wasn't enough focus on their viewpoints to make their change feel impactful. I also don't quite understand why Crosshair got a POV subplot in Episode 3 and hasn't gotten one since, even though his material was some of the strongest in the show, and he has gone through things since then that are worth exploring. Obviously there don't have to be full episodes dedicating to establishing characters for this to work, and I think Bad Batch has done some good work in the background, like having nice little moments between Wrecker and Omega, Echo training Omega with the bow, and other little touches like that. But it still feels like the show is holding back for some reason. Now, I still like the show. I'm not saying this makes the show awful or anything but I do think the overall approach could be improved. Moving beyond criticisms, I am very excited for this Ryloth storyline. With the good setup in "Devil's Deal" I think it's the perfect time to do an arc for at least 3 episodes. There is a lot of potential in having the Bad Batch fighting alongside Cham and the Twi'leks, especially because it will give them a clearer goal than they've had in a while, and it could get them to consider their options beyond just mercenary work.
  14. Eh, Space Jam has all the hallmarks of an overperformer in urban areas and especially Philly. That said I would not be surprised with 30+ but let's see.
  15. I don't think of it as filler, rather, I just feel like the relationships among the crew should be fleshed out better. At this point in Rebels I felt like I had a good sense of the dynamics between everyone and was invested in them as a team. In this show, while I like all the characters involved, I don't have a super good idea of the relationships beyond Wrecker/Omega. And the characters often seem to be along for the ride and don't have many clear goals or motivations beyond escaping the bad guys and protecting Omega.
  16. Yeah this is fairly disappointing and PA is certainly having an effect. Yeah weak Sat bumps have been there this year but 23 would be something else. Its not the absolute number but the pattern of the OW that is showing the effect.
  17. BW was not an 82 million opener pre pandemic, lol. Trailer metrics were very strong and the character is quite popular with the overall fandom regardless of ScarJo controversy (which general audiences don't know/care about). That said both yesterday and today it collapsed in evening walk-ups after looking good earlier on. My suspicion is that PA is affecting that pattern.
  18. Yeah, to be honest, once Nat's plan was revealed, a lot of the tension left the film especially since the plan faced only minor obstacles the rest of the way. Dreykov and Taskmaster were defeated too easily.
  19. I forgot Jungle Cruise was on PA as well. And it seems to be somewhat family targeted so that could take a good bite as well. Would be very surprised if it hits 50.
  20. Yeah trailer views are very low. Google Trends hard to find good recent comps but eyeballing it seems to be on par with a Skyscraper or Rampage (but trailer likes seem worse) so I don't think this is going 50 million at all.
