  1. If Avatar 2 were released in the summer, with enough screens, solid marketing, and all the goodwill from the first one's extraordinary word of mouth, you bet it would do a 250 million opening.
  2. WHAT???? Are you seriously 46? Wow, by the way you phrase your posts, your grammar and punctuation, your abrasive, childish, in-your-face tone, and your overzealous, all-in-caps "my film can beat your film ANYTIME" attitude, I truly thought you were a teenager. Damn, you must be a walking, breathing, living stereotype: The Overgrown, Mouth-Breathing Comic Book Fanboy.
  3. Get both Wolverine and Spider-man in TA 2 and have the team be transported to Pandora, where they'll fight a renegade Jake, who's gotten mad with power after getting ahold of the infinity gems. Have James Cameron and Joss Whedon co-direct and make surethe film opens at the startof summer. Voila. 300 million opening.
  4. I see.Do you happen to know what is the main complaint? Did people find it boring, or confusing?
  5. Why would the wom be bad? What were audiences expecting? A cheerful, colorful Star Wars universe? I loved the film; I found it thrilling, entertaining, thought-provoking and fun. And the special effects and cinematography were brilliant. What would mainstream audiences complain about?
  6. Yep. And the older/younger breakdown is almost exactly the same; I think I read it was 52/48...
  7. Thank you! Again, Avengers' opening was 40 % female and 60 % male but nobody called it male-skewing, but SWATH gets an almost 50-50 male-female breakdown, and it's called female-skewing? Come on...
  8. LOL Yes, because we all know that THG', TA and now SWATH success were all due to people rushing to theatres to see "the latest Chris/ Liam Hemsworth film."
  9. I'm curious as to how many of the people that are rapturously celebrating that "OMG! TA IS THE THIRD BIGGEST GROSSING FILM OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!" tried to downplay AVATAR's intital dethroning of Titanic and all others with stuff like "Big Deal! With 3D and inflation, it's not that big of a deal!" or "Well, 3D, inflation, and a totally unoriginal, safe plot will do that! At the end of the day, it still can't compare to Titanic or GWTW." Funny how when a film we love succeeds, suddenly our definition of success manages to accomodate that film's particular circumstances unquestionably.
  10. The difference is that Julia Roberts starred in those two films (Notting Hill and Runaway Bride), while Theron, no matter what the posters and the marketing for SWATH tell us, is playing supporting roles in both Prometheus and SWATH. Hemsworth may be a lead in SWATH but he is a supporting player in TA.
  11. 5.5 for TA is terrible? Poor TA, the film has only grossed over 500 million dollars domestically, one of only four films in history to do so, and this number cements it: it's a flop.
  12. Wow. You need to start writing Hollywood films ASAP.I mean, a Cameron-ripped-off-Pocahontas one-liner? How much more sharp, incisive, clever, relevant, and avant-garde can you get?Get this man a screenwriting Oscar!
  13. I can see it now: "The film opened solid in spite of Stewart and thanks to Hemsworth."----Fanboys.Anyway, I saw the film and loved it. Even better than I expected, with just the right amount of action and emotion, and with amazing visuals. Whatever the budget was, it's all there onscreen. The cinematography, art direction and Fx are all top-notch.The way they did the iconic witch-gives-SW-the-poison-apple scene was different and original, and the also iconic kiss scene was also unexpected...let's just say I wanted to be Stewart at that exact moment. All three leads, yes, all of them, were genuinely good. None of them (yes, NONE) will be on any year-end best-of lists, but they did their job. I can't wait to see it again.
  14. Although I do like this post, and I don't necessarily like BKB's style, I have to point out that you have done the exact same thing when someone rips into a film that you like. Remember how many times you called me a troll? No hard feelings, just saying...
  15. Hey, I hope that, if PROMETHEUS dethrones TA, it actually becomes a big box office hit and a well-loved film in its own right. I would hate if it were just remembered as 'that sci film that finally pushed TA out of the # 1 spot.". I mean, who the hell remembers Lost in Space ( detrhroned Titanic) or Dear John (dethroned Avatar)??
  16. Ok, so which film do you guys think will end TA's reign atop the box office charts in the coming weeks? I already want to see what the next big box office story will be. We had THG, then TA, now what?
  17. LOL I guess it means that rth is an Oscar-caliber box office prognosticator whose predictions are widely respected, revered, and admired by the industry, audiences, and awards organizations...
  18. You need to get out more. That's like saying, "Only JW can do superheroes/superheroes/musical webseries."
  19. Are directors of these comic book franchises contractually obligated to NOT work on films from their comic book competition? I wonder about Whedon and Wonder Woman... I mean, he did want to make the film at one point...
