I'm trying to figure out who exactly they think this movie is for? Certainly not going to appeal to the CBM audience, but at the same time doesn't really look like something the typical horror audience would go for either.
Yes I know, but I'm saying there were many on the internet hating on this when the trailers hit because they were acting all nostalgic like the first is some all time classic and this was here to ruin their childhood. Hey, I'm a 90's kid who did grow up watching the first and even I will be the first to say it's not some sacred legacy to ruin.
I always found it funny how some on the internet were acting outraged about this tarnishing the first's legacy for awhile, as if the first has a legacy to begin with lmao.
Really surprised about Shape of Water. Have hardly seen any marketing and GDT has always struggled at the DOM box office, even when he does tentpoles. Would be pretty crazy if this carries over to its wide release and it ended up beating PR for his top grossing movie DOM.
In spite of his background in Broadway and musicals, I just don't think Jackman has the most appealing voice for all of that. He was borderline cringey for me in parts of Les Mis. Apparently he really enjoys doing it, but I just don't think he's all that suited for it tbh. It's sad because he does really excel in action roles, yet those seem to be what he's least fond of doing.
Yes, but Strange dropped from like 2,000 to 500. Hopefully it can avoid something that bad if grosses are a decent amount higher than DS. Hoping it can pull somewhere around 3.8m next weekend vs DS's 2.2m. But needs to have a strong 30% hold or so this weekend.
