  1. Even I wasn't predicting below 29m on Monday for it, that was just common sense. At any rate, this game is no longer any fun.
  2. I still hate the film overall, but R1 couldn't have a better ending now. I may even have to go again for that.
  3. I wonder how amazing Moana could've done this weekend without Sing and the tc loss? Almost increased for the 4 day even with it.
  4. As a little kid I was really only allowed to watch animation and some very kiddy live action films. Then at 7, my mom took me to see the Star Wars Special Edition re-release, and it really was a whole new world of film to me. But I realized that princesses weren't just for animated Disney films. RIP Carrie Fisher, the real life princess of cinema.
  5. I think WW needs to save a lot of face or you aren't going to see the hype and OW for JL be anywhere near as big as for past DCEU offerings. If WW gets bad WOM and another 2x multi, then JL could do worse than 250.
  6. Yeah, given direct competition with Thor and then E8 a month later, I'm giving it only around 250ish unless... Wonder Woman is very well received (but lol this is DCEU) and/or the movie itself is very well received (but lol this is DCEU)
  7. 1. E8 - $800m 2. Beauty and the Beast - $440m 3. Lego Batman - $400m 4. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - $385m 5. Despicable Me 3- $360m 6. Spider-Man: Homecoming - $350m 7. Thor: Ragnarok - $310m 8. Wonder Woman - $290m 9. The Fate of the Furious - $260m 10. Coco/War for the Planet of the Apes/Justice League/Logan- all around $250m Other 150m grossers: Cars 3 - $220m Dunkirk - $215m The Mummy - $210m Transformers - $200m Pirates 5 - $175m The Boss Baby - $155m Kingsman 2 - $155m Baywatch - $150m Jumanji - $150m WW: 1. E8 - $1.75b 2. The Fate of the Furious - $1.2b 3. Despicable Me 3 - $1.15b 4. Guardians of the Galaxy 2- $1.05b 5. Beauty and the Beast - $1b 6. Spider-man: Homecoming - $990m 7. Transformers 5- $975m 8. Thor: Ragnarok - $870m 9. Pirates 5 - $850m 10. Lego Batman - $775m
  8. I think J Law is kind of showing she needs the right roles to be great. I don't think she's a Streep, who can elevate mundane or even garbage roles higher than they have any right to be.
  9. It was a suspense/thriller film far more than a slasher. This is Alien with 80% more blood and sex and 80% less tension and atmosphere. At least the trailer is.
  10. UGH. That trailer really does look like a remake of Alien, except now it's an 80's slasher film complete with shower sex scene kills! This couldn't be more depressing. Prometheus was a fantastic blueprint of where Ridley needed to keep going with this franchise, he just needed to smooth out the rough edges in the script and character development this time. But no, now we take three giant steps backwards instead. Hope the trailer is at least a little misleading for what they're going for here, but it matches up with what's been said about it so I doubt it.
  11. Williams is basically her only threat, and great as that one scene in Manchester with her is, it really is a one scene performance. Would be pretty damn insulting quite frankly to snub Davis' near leading role, that is superb throughout, to give it to Williams instead.
  12. If she doesn't win then she officially did something major to piss some important Academy members off.
  13. It's kind of crazy that it basically does and they made a two and a half hour movie out of that. That should be a disaster on paper, but I was completely invested the whole time and the runtime, while I wouldn't say flew by, definitely didn't feel long either. Kind of like a 12 Angry Men, where you should get bored but the script and acting are too good.
  14. Wow, just saw Fences. I know this is probably Casey Affleck's one and only chance in his career to win an Oscar, which kind of works to his advantage from a narrative standpoint, but Denzel really deserves it. Talk about some serious method acting chops. I wouldn't be surprised if this is another Streep upsets Davis situation, where the acting legend with multiple wins is just too good and beats out the award season novice who everyone predicts to win.
  15. Fences really is an acting tour de force from both Washington and Davis. I would think WOM would be pretty great, I'd expect some serious raves over the two of them from anyone who sees it.
