Where did you get 24%? EG's OW in Indonesia was 35% higher than IW's OW. That's a pretty huge increase, considering IW was already huge, breaking OW record by almost the same percentage last year. You do have a point about not having enough theater though. I think EG has reach a maximum capacity of theaters in Indonesia, or close to that.

LOL at Indonesia's Monday number matching CM's OD which broke the OD record. And this shows that the reports saying $2.5M OD for Endgame was wrong and massively underestimated. Anyone has the actual OD in Indonesia? It was supposed to be around $4m, but I've never seen any official reports about it.

Indonesia's OW adjusted up to $15.4M or almost 5 million admissons. Looks like it could reach $30M+ or 10 million admissions in 2 weeks (I'm not sure if it's by the end of week 2, which is 12 days, or 14 days). Either way, no movie has even been close to these numbers. The number for Dom on the table above hasn't been updated btw.

Yeah, Indonesia's number seems... wrong. There's NO WAY it's doing only slightly better than Captain Marvel. CM had to share the screens with a local blockbuster that also broke the OD record. Endgame basically has the screens for itself, with extra showtimes in the morning. That alone will make this number unexplainable. We haven't even talked about occupancy here.

Just finished my 5AM show. It was crazy because as I got out from the theater, I saw a lot of cameras from different media and TV and some reporters lol. I was like, whoa am I on TV? Will my boss find out? 😅 Wish I took some pictures. Anyway, the movie. WOW! It's the biggest, craziest, most epic, and one of the best superhero movies ever!! Lots and lots of emotion. You think you know the story. But you don't. We will never EVER have something like this again. Well, at least for a very long time. Can't wait to see it again. I will travel to the UK for a week, so maybe after that.

I was about to post that but didn't think it was my place to do that. Thankfully you're here! It's 4.55 AM, I'm at the theater now, waiting for the movie to start. LOTS of people here btw. It feels like afternoon on a weekend, but it's very early morning on a Wednesday lol.

There are no reports whatsoever and I don't think we will ever get one. The only numbers that I found are from this article: https://www.thejakartapost.com/life/2019/04/16/indonesian-fans-go-wild-over-avengers-endgame-presale-tickets.html It sounds huge, like, unprecedented. I mean all my life I've never seen shows earlier than 9 AM, let alone 2 and 5 AM! Yet, the 5 AM and 5.30 AM shows are all sold out, and many other early shows are almost sold out. The evening shows are even crazier. Every show that I checked is either sold out, or 90% full (only seats on the 1st and 2nd row are left, which eventually will be filled anyway). The shows for premium class are all sold out until Sunday. And the other weekend shows are also selling really fast, ranging from 50%-95% full. Like I said, I've never seen something like this before.

I'm amazed at how huge Conan right now. I mean, there was a time when it made 2-3B every year. It was always behind Pokemon and Doraemon. Now it's 8-9B? Just crazy!

Well, the apps and websites were so slow and a lot of people got error messages. But yeah no crash whatsoever. Starting the presales at midnight was a good way to spread out the traffics to those apps and websites. Now I know why they did that. A lot of people apparently. The IMAX shows on April 24 were 70% full just 30 minutes after the presales started. And a couple hours later they're like 95% full. The booking for the 5 AM shows on the opening day, started late at around 1 AM, instead of midnight. I bought a ticket for that time at 2 AM and it's already like 40% full. And now those 5 AM shows are almost sold out! Edit: Ok, I just read social media reactions and the servers were down for quite a while, so for many people it took hours to finally get their tickets.

I'm not sure why. And I'm also not sure they're ready for this lol. We'll see.

Endgame presales in Indonesia will start at midnight, or in about 1.5 hour! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. Also, one of the chains here will screen Endgame for 24 hours from 5 AM to 5 AM the next day on April 24. Nothing like this has ever happened before! I think I'm gonna go to that very first screening. Edit: And it looks like 21 Cineplex, the biggest chain here, will also start Endgame screening at 5 AM.

IW wasn't just beaten by Conan. They're on complete different levels. In fact, right now Conan is in a league of its own box office-wise compared to other movie franchises. They're pairing these two movies up to urge people to go to the movies on Golden Week, since they are two of the biggest ones released during this time.

Indonesia too. Also, the Presidential Election Day is on Wed, and we have the whole day off. So basically two public holidays in one week. But it doesn't mean much, since CM only has very few screens left. It will help other movies though. Particularly The Curse of La Llorona.

This. It really bothered me. Levi's supposed to be Billy but I couldn't imagine Billy being that childish. He's so smart that he could find addresses of the people who might be his mom on his own. But other than that, I enjoyed the movie a lot. It's moving from scary, emotional and funny so seamlessly. And I loved the family reveal. Didn't see that one coming.

This is tricky. TFA might be the event of the decade in North America and Europe, but I live in South East Asia and Star Wars is faaar from an event. Meanwhile, Infinity War was huge almost everywhere in the world. And since I think Endgame will be even bigger, I chose Endgame.

The Incredibles: 97% on RT Incredibles 2: 94% on RT Finding Nemo: 99% on RT Finding Dory: 94% on RT I guess liking critically well-recieved movies means you have incredibly low standards. 🤷‍♂️

I want it to get there, but EG will have Pikachu in its 3rd weekend while IW had nothing for 3 weekends, and screen lost is crucial in Indonesia. So, I think even if it opens with $14-15m, it will only finish around $30m. For CM I expect it to finish at $19-20m. Will be 2nd or 3rd biggest ever. Could be lower though if Us hit it hard.

I've seen a video on youtube where this girl was asking people on the street in Japan to watch Detective Pikachu's trailer and tell her what they think. First of all, they didn't even know that the movie was coming out. Some of their comments were "What is this?", "That's weird/scary", "That looks different", "It's more for adults than for children" "Why is Pikachu so fluffy?". They didn't explicitly say whether they liked it or not, but based on this, I'm not expecting big numbers from Japan.

It certainly is. That's like 80% of Black Panther's total. Although, knowing the numbers from the first 2 days, I expected it to get around $10M OW and it did. But before it opened, nobody in the right mind thought it would break the OD record and get the 2nd biggest OW ever, so close to IW's $11.4M. It's the only movie to cross $10M in its OW, beside IW of course. And with 2x multiplier, it can be the 2nd movie ever to cross $20M. And all that, with strong competition from a record-breaking local movie. I can only imagine what kind of numbers Endgame will make.

Just like India then. I've been wondering, why is Sunday bigger than Sat? Here in Indonesia Sun is usually lower than Sat in terms of box office, just like the US. It makes sense because on Sat you have the whole day off and you can go out until late at night since you don't have to worry about going to work or school the next day. While on Sunday, especially Sunday night, people prefer staying at home or if they go out, they will come home early.
