  2. Cut out the scene with Ghostface in the grocery store and I'd have a perfect horror film.
  3. And is the only person to have five nominations in five different categories IIRC.
  4. I really, really doubt the academy even consider ratings when they're voting.
  5. Are we really going to go through this again? It's best to assume TDKR will not be nominated.
  6. I'm just ecstatic that TGWTDT didn't get in.
  7. For the first time in years I'm actually very content with the nominations in this category.
  8. I'm so happy it got that nomination.
  9. I'm honestly at a loss as to why this is such a big issue. As a whole what the series has accomplished is quite amazing, but individually? Not one of the films has deserved consideration in the major categories. If people are getting annoyed about the lack of tech noms that's understandable.
  10. Yep.The Hobbit will be in a league of it's own.

  12. I've just rediscovered the sexiness of that first poster, absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to buy one.
  13. They're so gorgeous. I love playing them with Elfman and Walker's scores in the background.I think they could maybe work as DTV animated films.
  14. Odds are this won't be good. Evans has three fresh movies on RT.
  15. I dunno about best but my favourites are Alien and Big Fish.Calling it worst is odd since I do like the movie but the love for Star Trek 2009 is really baffling.
  16. I agree it's a great score. But even if he were nominated he wouldn't be in the company of the years best scores (bar War Horse) so it's not a big deal.
  17. He's been nominated so many times, undeservingly, in the last few years that I'm happy he seems to be sitting this year out.
  18. This year is so promising for film scores. The Hobbit - Howard Shore returns to the series that earned him two Oscars. I find LOTR to be in a league of it's own as far as scores go and the idea of Shore returning to Middle Earth is mouthwatering. Brave - Patrick Doyle had one hell of a year this year, and I dare say Brave can topple all four of this years scores. Doyle has dabbled in celtic music here and there with Goblet of Fire, Jig and even a little in Thor, and I cannot wait to hear it in fullblown, blockbuster fashion. Dark Shadows - Danny Elfman's 14th score for a Tim Burton film, and something like their 35th collaboration in total. The original Dark Shadows had a tone unlike anything I've ever seen and based on the stills Burton has captured that perfectly, curious to how Elfman will tackle it. Expecting some gorgeous, gothic goodness. Frankenweenie - Elfman's 15th score for a Tim Burton film. Given that the movie is in black and white I'm hoping for Elfman to go on full old fashioned mode, which he's never done before. John Carter - I've found Giacchino's work outside of Lost to be varying degrees of underwhelming. But the three tracks that are already available are excellent, 'Dejah's Theme' is stunning. The Hunger Games - I was much more excited for this score when Elfman was in charge. JNH can write stunning music, but he can also write some crap. Overall the movie has ridiculous potential for a fantastic score, and JNH can nail it if he's on form. Honourable mentions to Skyfall by Thomas Newman who is finally leaving his comfort zone, Stoker by Philip Glass who couldn't write a bad score if his life depended on it and Lincoln by the always reliable John Williams. What are you looking forward to?
